Longmont, Firestone on collision course, an article from The Longmont Times-Call, reports that this month, Firestone officials are scheduled to decide whether to annex land across the street from Longmont city limits.  Longmont leaders will in turn ask Firestone to slow down before voting on the annexation or before adopting an updated master plan that would stretch to Longmont's borders.  The land being considered for annexation is Fairview Estates, 74 acres on the northeast corner of Colo. Big potential for ConocoPhillips site, an article from The Rocky Mountain News, reports that on Thursday, several experts said the 432-campus in Louisville purchased by ConocoPhillips could be rezoned to easily handle 10,000 or more people.  Tom Clark, executive vice president of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., said if you do the math the land easily supports well in excess of 10,000 on the site.  Clark said, "This would dwarf any economic development deal in the history of the state."  Paul Wood, planning director for Louisville, said ConocoPhillips could easily rezone the property from industrial, allowing 5 million to 5.5 million square feet of a wide range of buildings, from offices to industrial to research and development facilities, and even retail and hotels.  Bill ...

Bush mortgage plan will help in Weld, lenders say, an article from The Greeley Tribune, reports that Steve LaForest, owner of Mortgage Services, LLC, said the Bush plan to freeze rates on certain subprime mortgages for five years will help quell future foreclosures in Weld and give the housing market time to fix itself.  He said, "It will definitely help a lot of people out.  If they can continue their payments as they are now, it will keep them in their homes."  In 2007, Weld County is on track to have about a 35% increase in foreclosures from 2006.  The Weld County Foreclosure Prevention Task Force has been meeting over the past few months to see what can be done.  The task force is still in its beginning stages but is making headway, according to Jeannine Truswell, executive director...

Old Town gets room service:  Plans for Fort Collins' downtown hotel moving along, an article from The Greeley Tribune, reports that what is now a parking lot on Old Town will soon become a hotel.  According to Chip Steiner, executive director of Downtown Development Authority, plans are going forward to build a premier hotel in Old Town with hopes to break ground within the next 18 months.  Corporex Colorado, a development company, is working with the DDA and the city.  The company will soon start the design process now that a feasibility study has been completed.  The parking lot located on Remington Street next to the Elks Lodge was chosen as the location because it was owned by the city.  The plans for the hotel include between 120 and 150 rooms, with possibly 5,000-square-feet of me...
