Interesting article is this week's Yountville Sun, our local weekly newspaper, about the Town Council having a 2 million dollar surplus. Granted 1.64 million dollars was the lawsuit settlement from the contractors who rebuilt the Town Community Hall. However what caught my eye more was the $6.263 million the 451 hotel rooms generated in fiscal year 2013-14.   These transient occupancy taxes, TOT dollars, represented nearly 70% of the Town $8,989,405 2013-14 budget. Just how important is this, just look at almost any other California City and Town and they are nearly desperate for additional revenues. Splendor behold, this was the sunset at my home in Yountville yesterday afternoon. Yountville is considered by many to be the heart of the Napa Valley especially by those who live there.
