  Waterman Road Closures     Beginning December 6, work on Grant Line Road for the Waterman realignment Project will start.   Luckily it will only be closed at night from 8:00pm until 5:00am.  But of course there will be delays and all the expected we-are-making-progress- upheaval.   It is suppose to improve traffic and safety (YEAH!)  We are going to have a traffic Light.  (NO, Really!) and they are eliminating that irritating skew in the road so it will be a straight shot.   Night work is scheduled from December 6 through December 21.  Subject to weather or other delays…So looks like it will be finished before Easter for Sure.   Personally, I look forward to no longer playing chicken with big trucks when I try to leave town.    What we call progress is the exchange of one nuisance for... 11/25/2010

  I LOVE living in the South County.  South County includes:  Sheldon, Wilton, Vineyard, Vintage, Slough House, Florin, Elk Grove and unincorporated Sacramento.  It is small enough to feel like home and big enough so there is always something going on. With that said, I wanted to find some activities in Wilton this weekend, so I looked on the internet…nothing.    Nothing?!   I found lots of things that have already happened, but nothing that was GOING to happen.   Then I had to laugh. Nobody goes to the internet for local information…we go to Sheldon Feed, or the Dillard Store.  Both have huge community boards where you can find out what is going on.  You can find out who needs a room, who repairs fences, who has livestock to trade, or who lost that dog you  just found. Wilton residents are out in force to defend their territory lines! About 40 Wilton residents decked out in cowboy hats and bandanas attended Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission's (LAFCo) first public hearing on the city of Elk Grove's Sphere of Influence (SOI) application. Residents were there to speak out against the inclusion of the Cosumnes River and Deer Creek floodplain in the SOI application and to deliver a petition to protect the floodplain from development.
