For over 55 years a 30 foot star has lit bright from Thanksgiving through Christmas from its perch in the hills above the end of Euclid Avenue in Upland. "It's really a small percentage of homes that are for sale now," I retorted, and we went for a drive. You know what happened. On some streets in every city, there were a number of houses for sale. Twenty-seven single-family homes were sold in Upland during October, according to DQ News, which charts changes in the sales price of single-family homes and condominiums. In Upland Zip Code 91784, DQ News said 16 single-family homes were sold in October with a median price of $615,000, a 11.6 percent drop from October 2006. Five condos was sold in that area, with a median price of $390,000, a 42.6 percent decline from October. 2006. The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reported on Sept. 27 that Milken Institute rates the Ontario-San Bernardino-Riverside market as No. 3 among 200 large U.S. metropolitan areas in job creation and retention, ranking just behind Ocala, Florida, and Wilmington, North Carolina.It makes sense. So many people I come into contact with feel the market is going to drop in price anywhere from 25% to 50% before years end. This comes from the media shouting doom and gloom to sell papers.
