Let the snow and snow-making begin! Not too long ago I decided to drive out in the midst of snow fall to see what kind of action was going on at Squaw Valley.   Much to my delight there was a flurry of activity as this classic resort was in rapid preparations - getting the mountain ready for ski season.  Not only was the snow steadily falling, but the snow making was in full motion.  I don't know about you, but this is extremely exciting to me!If you go to Lake Tahoe Ski Preview - November 13th, 2011 you can click on a recent article that recently appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle.    Today is our 5th day at Lake Tahoe and our little vacation will be coming to an end tomorrow, so today will be another fun day playing in the sun.   In the photo above I captured several girls and boys sucking up the sun and worshiping the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe, CA.  In Tahoe City, which is on the North Shore of the lake is the outlet that feeds the Truckee River.  As you walk across the bridge, you see people looking down, down into the river...  Are they looking at ducks?  No.....  Geese?  Nooooo...  People swimming? Nooooo...  At me?  Nooooo.... Trout...  Rainbow, maybe brown trout, maybe brook trout, maybe steelhead?  But they are big...  Longer then your arm from the elbow.   They are just chillin' out there under the bridge...  And people are throwing in frozen peas, and fish food that you can buy at the store next door.  And the chop at it, like hungry goats at a petting zoo. So I have been on vacation this week in Lake Tahoe with my Son Ryan. Swimming every day, throwing rocks in the water, roller skating, making smores in the fireplace, making snowmen (yes, there was still snow), swinging on the swings, Old Town Virginia City, Circus Circus in Reno, seeing the trains in Truckee, riding bikes and hiking the woods... So ummmm...  Yesterday at the beach, of course having a great time digging holes, building castles so the big blue shorted monster could stomp them down got kinda carried away.   So in digging his HUGE hole, I was having him pose for a great picture and he accidentally flung water and sand at me and giggled...  He didn't realize that sand and water are not good for a camera, since he is not even 4 yet. Party Time at Tahoe City in Lake Tahoe Ok, we really don't get to go out for late night events since we have three kids, but since our good friend Lucas Rodenbush, goes by E.B.E., was djing up at Tahoe City in Lake Tahoe last Saturday we went up to support him. The North Lake Tahoe Lakefront market has been very active in 2010 and as of 9/29/2010 we have had 13 Lakefront Sales and currently there are 8 Lakefronts in escrow!  It is very realistic that 2010 will see over 21 Lakefront sales and that is if there are no other escrows opened in the next 2 months which is highly unlikely.  North Lake Tahoe hasn't seen this level of Lakefront activity since 2005 and we are on pace to outdo those numbers. Never would have thought you could catch crawdads at the lake...  I was up in north shore this weekend with my son, and started moving rocks and there they were!  I never would have thought of catching them in such large lakes...  The area was shallow, and warmer.  lots of shad in the water, and lots of rocks, big and small. I saw many, and grabbed this one, so I could show my son, and take a great picture for the photo album.  Then I thought, it would be fun to share!
