Cal State University San Marcos, California Will Offer Online Wait Lists. Professors no longer have to deal with student pleading for seats in closed classes. Cal State San Marcos students this fall will be able to join an online wait list, offered as a pilot program at the university. The system allows student to join a digital wait list for their desired classes at the time of registration and to track their status on the list. University officials say it's fairer, easier way for student to add the classes they need and allows faculty to better track class demand. Cal State San Marcos is enrolling students for summer session through its extended learning program and has expanded its lower-division classes to help compensate for cuts to community college summer sessions. The university is offering about 350 classes this summer--nearly twice as many as last summer. The program is open to continuing Cal State San Marcos students as well as other "university student home for vacation,high school students and professional looking to update skills,. With about 100 lower-division courses offerings the program is also designed to help community colleges with budget problems.
