When you are out enjoying the holiday spirit in downtown San Diego there is a lot to drink in.  The people bundled up for the cold weather of say 60 degrees for instance.  The decorations downtown are tasteful and fun.  Some of the store windows hire artists to paint them.  Many of the stores decorate with lights and flowers. Given that our winters are warm we have a wealth of flowers.  Picking up a bouquet on my way home on my way to a friend's house is a nice way to cap off a walk.  My favorite place to stop for flowers in 92101 is Allen's Flowers.  It is right in the midst of the GasLamp District on Market Street.  The shop was a video store for ages and ages.  When videos when the way of the eight track tape deck - the flowers took over.  Flowers never go out of style. With the econ...

If you remember the 80's fondly you will love Mix Tape.  It is running into the end of a long run at the Horton Grande Theater.  The final show is December 15th.  The Horton Grande Theater is in downtown Gas Lamp, a vibrant district of downtown San Diego.  Parking is easy.  There is a lot right across the street. There is also ample street parking on week nights. Mix tapes are a compilation of songs that invoke emotions and memories.  When someone went to the effort to make you a tape it meant something.  You held onto it.  I still have mix tapes from old friends and I have nothing to play them on.  Some mix tapes I know so well that it doesn't matter that I don't have a tape deck anymore.  The memories are there.  The show starts with the performers milling around in a haze locked in o...
