Last night we had a fast moving storm that came through the Inland Empire in CA. The sky was beautiful so I went for a walk as the rain fell.       TIME OUT This morning my dogs were in terrible moods. They were growling and not minding so they all three went on “Time Out” for a couple of hours and their moods really improved greatly. This is not typical so I am thinking the storm last night and the meteor shower may have affected their dispositions. Like my mother used to say “they were full of “piss and vinegar”. Of the three pictures above, the one who would look at me was the guiltiest. No matter what our occupation is, sometimes things just do not go smoothly and it is good to take a time out. But by far the most popular animals at the zoo are the Giant Pandas.      Don’t you just love Pandas?  In 1996 a female named Bai Yun and a male named Shi Shi. The agreement was that San Diego would try to breed in captivity and send their cubs back to China for the next 12 years. Shi Shi was not interested in mating so Bai Yun was artificially inseminated and gave birth to a cub in 1999 that was eventually returned to China. Finally in 2003 Shi Shi was sent back and a new male named Gao Gao came to San Diego. With instant attraction, Bai Yun & Gao Gao had 3 more cubs that have since been sent to China. Come and make a difference. I had never heard of this celebration until this week. A 16 year old Southern California girl, Juliette West, has always loved animals and especially elephants. She made a documentary in 2009 about rescuing elephants from the zoos and placing them in sanctuaries and was involved with a rescue mission in Thailand. West says there are 3 threats to elephants including 1) ivory poaching, 2) abusive treatment in lumber camps and 3) cruelty and isolation and loneliness as part of a circus troupe. Mysterious Full Moon over California and 2 Full Moons This Month...Wow! Tonight the full moon was breathtaking but suddenly the clouds moved in so I could not get a perfectly clear shot but I think the clouds make it more intriguing and mysterious. Did you know we only have 2 full moons in the same month every 2 to 3 years and it typically happens in the 7th or 8th month? The 2nd full moon is scheduled on August 31, 2012.   Pretty Peacocks   This peacock is called the Indian Peafowl and is the national bird of the Republic of India. Peacocks are actually called peafowl. Males are called peacocks and females are called peahens. Babies are called peachicks. The male peacock is one of the largest flying birds. Their total length can reach near 8 feet; about 3 feet for the body and about 5 feet for the tail (train). Peacocks weigh about 9-13 pounds. Females are not as colorful and much smaller Peacocks are ground feeders. Meet Drago, a K9 that Visits Hospital Patients   Chuck Galusha and I worked together for many years. I run into Chuck and his dog Drago in Costco and Sams Club several times a month. Drago, Chuck’s yellow lab, is such a mild mannered dog and goes to the local hospitals to visit patients from the very young to the senior citizens. There is research that patients tend to recover sooner with pets visiting. Even if recovery is not possible, the dog makes their stay happier and reminds them of home. Drago has ID tags for Loma Linda University Medical Center and for Arrowhead Regional Hospital as well as tags for Costco and Sams Club too. Look Who I Met Today at Escrow ….Some Canadian Geese   I saw a little pond as I got out of the car and these geese met me at the sidewalk. And the front one was just honking at me all the way up to the escrow office. They are so cute! Looks like they are busy searching for worms.
