Just off Highway 68 between Monterey and Salinas there is a little roadside cafe called "Toro Place Cafe." When you walk into this establisment, it is a little like stepping back in time and that is much of its appeal!   It has been a roadside landmark since 1945. Nobody is a stranger here!   This morning when I woke up and looked out the window I was pleasantly surprised to see snow on the mountains behind my home at Las Palmas Ranch! It has been cold, as you may have noticed. Our Monterey County listing in South Salinas was posted on MLS yesterday and it's already generated 3 offers. Part of the reason is that we aggressively marketed the property even while we were waiting for the Listing Agreement and price. We hosted an Open House and posted the property on Craig's List while we were waiting for the Listing Agreement and price! Our own website which is syndicated to Yahoo, Google, Vast, HotPod, Trulia and Homescape also generated a lot of info requests for the property. The results are more qualified, pre-screened buyers with less probability of cancelations! We got more than 12 buyers who had called and got on the waiting list for us to notify them and their agents when the price becomes available. What works for you?! We invite your comments.

  A few blogs ago I posted about the deer in my backyard and included a few photos; one with my dog Charlie looking at the deer in the window. Well, last week I found the photo that I thought that I had lost. One day will making lunch, I saw what I thought was a large cat, dog? I looked up and saw that it was not a cat or a dog well it was a large cat..a bobcat!!! I had heard that they are in the area but I not seen one before so close! My new Nikon was on the kitchen counter and without even thinking, I ran back to my bedroom..in the direction that the bobcat was headed and I opened the bedroom door (I still can't believe that I did that!) and proceed to take a photo of the majestic cat! He turned and ran down the hill (lucky for me) and as he looked back I was able to take this photo...

This morning while I was cleaning of my desktop computer and working on my next blog idea, I came across these two photos that I wanted to share with those folks that live at Las Palmas Ranch as I do. We all know there are deer here. That is a given. Especially when your precious roses disappear. But these photos are amazing and show just how comfortable and unafraid the deer are in this this area. This photo is taken from across the room in my kitchen. It was a good thing my camera was lying on the counter and handy! Well then my little 9# cockapoo, Charlie got all excited and barked and barked. The link above is a list of the cheapest gas prices today in the Salinas area. Maps are included! It is amazing to me that the lowest price today is $1.69 per gallon. Charlie is 3 years old and a big part of our family. He is my first dog and is like having a son. As you dog lovers know, dogs become an integral part of the family! This is my practice Picasa slideshow. Picasa is a photo storage and sharing place that is part of Google. I love GMAIL and all that it offers. i have branched out and am trying Googles Picasa. Although slideshow may not be that exciting..the process was fun and now I will use it more often.

In the Salinas Valley we are seeing high percentages  of bank owned homes especially in North & East Salinas, Seaside, Marina and South County areas.   Are any  sellers in Salinas or surrounding areas concerned about how this might affect the value of their home? Foreclosures should be peaking this coming summer in North Salinas and East Salinas.  Buyers who bought property in 2004 and 2005 and used the 5 year hybrid loan product will see their loans re-setting in 2009.  We may continue to see foreclosures in our area well into the 2009 because for this reason. Several months ago I sent out 1000 letters to the homeowners at Las Palmas Ranch asking them if they would be interested in participating in an idea that I have. That idea is to put together a directory of local businesses in the area and then distribute the directory to the homeowners. I had a terriffic response and now have a directory that I have personally delivered to all homeowners in the the area.If there is anyone out there that would like one or does not have one.
