Contractors do make lists; we just don’t always have paper handy! – Photo   I am a big fan of making lists. My day starts with a list of things to do. I write goals for the month and year. Supply lists happen all the time.     The problem is… I don’t always have paper to write on.  J

Thinking of buying or selling a home in Gold River California? Gold River is an interesting town.  It is a planned community, comprised of a number of villages, each designed and built by a different builder.  There are a few condo communities, but most are single family homes, and all of the villages are immaculately maintained and beautiful, with parks that range from larger regional parks to little pocket parks nestled among the lovely homes. Gold River is bordered to the north by the American River, on the south by the 50 Freeway, and to the west and east by Sunrise Blvd and Hazel Avenue. Gold River villages have a very active homeowners association, and the HOA dues cover maintenance of front yards and many community services that the residents appreciate.  They also work hard to m...

Friday, November 11 (11-11-11) is Veterans Day.  There are many living veterans of past and present wars and we currently have thousands of servicemen and servicewomen on active military duty, and we owe our thanks to all of them. There are many ceremonies throughout the country planned to show our appreciation – most churches and cemeteries and many community centers will honor the fallen as well as those surviving more recent wars and now serving. One great company is honoring them in its own way.  On November 11th Applebee's Restaurants will be serving free meals to all veterans and active military.  Just show your proof of service, and you will be able to choose any one of seven delicious Signature entrees and it will be FREE. Applebee's also has a spot on its website where anyone...

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. I bet real estate agents say that a lot. Especially listing agents. Especially a Sacramento short sale agent. You notice how I automatically assigned a gender to that horse and it wasn't female? All of my women readers are laughing right now. The men are saying, What the? I stopped by to see a client yesterday. I was driving back from taking a new listing in the Pocket. The sun was out. The top of my car, down. Riverside Boulevard had little traffic. I drove by Seamas and thought, you know, I should stop to see George. I keep thinking about it when I'm in the Pocket, but I never stop. I made a fast U-turn in the street -- hey, I'm in real estate, I can do that -- and zipped over to George's house to visit. I'm gonna do that mor...

I have promised on a couple of occasions on my blog that I would give you a review of my uncle Fred Schroder's exciting book, "Run for the Money."  I'm finally keeping that promise!A small group of people charters a flight with Ben Garrett, a wilderness expert and pilot.  They want to fly from Reno to Northern California.  Unbeknownst to Garrett, his passengers have just stolen $3 million dollars from a Reno casino. Suddenly, the passengers turn on their pilot, hijack him and take over controls to head to a different place.  They wind up crashing, and Brad winds up having to help them survive in the wilderness, on the threat that they will kill one of the passengers who is sort of a hostage. There are disputes among the hijackers, the wilderness nearly overcomes them, and Brad is forced...

I think I have mentioned in previous blogs (or maybe it was on facebook, but anyway...)  my aunt Carol Schroder of Gold River, California has written a wonderful inspirational book about the miracle of my Uncle Freddie.Nearly two years ago, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  His lungs filled with so much fluid that he could barely breathe.  He wound up in the hospital in August 2009 with all of us in the family and many of his friends visiting him and wondering if this would be the last time we would see him.  Most of those who came by the hospital truly felt they were saying goodbye. If that's what they thought, they failed to take into account the Schroder faith and determination, which in some of us in the family might be called stubbornness.  Freddie's wife Carol, as a hospi...
