e quarry that became a town:  Rocklin, CaliforniaFrom 1864 through 2005 the Rocklin California quarries extracted and crafted an estimated 2.4 million tons of granite.  This is the story of how that came to be.  Clearly many details had to be omitted, but I have tried to include the most important parts of the early Rocklin story.It all started with the Rocklin Pluton - granite formed as the molten lava of volcanic action pushed up and formed igneous rock.  Once it became solid through crystalization, it still lay underground.  As the Sierras were rising and forming a few million years ago, the slopes of the Rocklin area rose too, and then the soil covering the Rocklin Pluton eroded away and the granite became exposed.  The Rocklin Pluton stretches from Roseville to Newcastle and from F...

A month ago I wrote how excited I was to see the ten year note in the low 3.0% range. I am much more excited now that the 10 year note rate closed at 2.82% on August 6th. I am having trouble sleeping because it is very rare that the 10 year note rate ever goes below 3%. This is great news for homeowners and for people buying their first home because mortgage rates are at 40 year lows. A person wanting to buy a HOME ANYWHER FROM ROCKLIN CA TO SACRAMENTO CA can get a 30 year mortgage at 4.25% and a 15 year mortgage at 3.75%. Our grandparents were probably not even getting rates this low when they purchased there first homes.
