Celebrate Veteran's Day on November 11, 2014   Recently I was at Pearl Harbor and took these picture at the USS Missouri. On November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…" In 1968, due to federal holidays, the government ordered the holiday to be celebrated on a Friday or Monday so employees could have a 3 day weekend.This change caused a lot of confusion ... 11/11/2014

Throwback Thursday-Family Pictures During the War         I was going through some of my mom's hundreds of pictures as she scrapbooked my dad's entire career in Army Air Corp which was later renamed the US Air Force.   Here is a picture of my dad at Stillwater, Missouri where he went to pilot school January 1944. After graduating he went to Navigator School for additional training at Hondo, Texas.   This B-24 Liberator airplane was assigned to the base at Hondo Army Airfield in Texas which was a Army Air Corp Training Base for Navigators. My dad trained here in the spring of 1944 until he graduated and was transferred to the Philippines in October 1944.  The second picture is of my mom and dad at Hondo, Texas. Zoos Celebrate Halloween by Feeding Animals Pumpkins We get our homes ready for Halloween and buy decorations, costumes for our kids and even our pets as it is one of our most favorite holidays. Pumpkins are very healthy and it is nice to know that the animal preserves and zoos let their animals join in the celebrations too. Queen of Comedy "Can We Talk" Joan Rivers Dies Comedian Joan Rivers died at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City on Thursday afternoon after suffered cardiac arrest during a medical procedure at a clinic last week.   "She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends," Melissa Rivers said in a written statement.   Joan Rivers was a pioneer comedian and lead the way for so many female comedians and talk show hosts.  Google Authorship is Axed by Google Inman News and Forbes recently confirmed that Google has pulled the 'Google Authorship' citing that they had determined it was ineffective for it users. It was first started in 2012 and only 30% of the users had taken advantage of it since.  John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst for Google, stated they had observed that the information wasn't as useful as they had hoped and may have distracted from the results. After months of consideration, Google made the decision to stop showing authorship. Mueller said removing authorship generally doesn't seem to reduce traffic to sites nor did it increase clicks on ads. This is good news for your search ranking. Google+ Limits the Number of Friend Requests Daily   When I switched from my primary email address on gmail to the new one that Keller Williams set up for us, I started a new Google+ plus account.  My older account has 1,669 friends in  my circle but the new one has 88. So I changed the settings and started building my numbers in my 'Circle of Friends". Yesterday, I got this message box that read "You have exceeded the number of friend request for today. You can come back tomorrow and add more". Do You Use the Facebook Graph Search for Real Estate I remember a few years ago when I would be on Facebook and looking for friends or prospective clients and would have a terrible time finding them sometimes. And then if you looked up someone with a common name, you would finally get 50+ but the thumbnail picture was so tiny that you couldn't tell if that was the person or not.   For the past few months Facebook has made it a lot easlier to find people or places. US Coast Guard Protects Sea Life as Well as People        I thought this video was amazing considering this sea turtle was approximately 800 pounds. Most of us are nature lovers and this type of rescue is so rewarding for the enviroment. Just like the Movies....Bogart and Bacall Together Again   Lauren Bacall  (1924-2014) met Humphrey Bogart on the set making a movie in Hollywood in 1944. They were married in 1945 and had 2 children before Bogart died of cancer in 1957. Bacall married Jason Robards in 1961 and had one child but the marriage did not last very long.
