Ways to Keep Your ATM Pin # From Being Stolen Back in 2011, a group of researchers from UC San Diego did a paper on ways hackers steal ATM pin numbers. This is back in the news today as crooks are still getting a hold of the pins. Here are a few ways to keep this from happening. After you type in your pin and use and the machine, the person behind you could use a heat sensor detector. Here is a picture of what the key pad looks like before and after. There are a few drawbacks to this type of hacking which is good news for us. The hacker would not know the code so if they get a 4-6 digit pin, they would not know the exact sequence of the numbers.
