Give Back to Your Community During the Holidays Yesterday our association, East Valley Association of Realtors, had our 2nd of 4 turkey distributions of the week. On Friday, Realtors volunteered and handed out turkeys in Crestline, CA. Yesterday we gave out 401 turkeys in Redlands at the Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store parking lot.  We are having two more giveaway locations; one in Yucaipa on Monday at 12592 California Street and on Tuesday in the back parking lot of the Beaumont City Hall. Here is Jinx who also came to get a turkey. He was so cute and friendly and a nice break for all of us. They got their turkey plus a bag of fixings and rode off on his bicycle. Do You Need a New Best Friends for the Holidays?   The Redlands Elks Lodge and the Redlands Friends of Shelter Animals (REDFOSA) s hosting a pet adoption fair Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 663 New York Street, Redlands CA.   Make sure you get there early as adoption fees for the first seven qualified adoptions will be donated by the Redlands Elks. Fees range from $28 for cats to $51 for dogs.   The Elks Lodge has secured a grant from the Elks National Foundation to purchase modular stainless steel cages for donation to the Animal Shelter. NAR Changes in 2016 involving Realtor Ethics & Excellence    The NAR Board of Directors (850 members) met last week and discussed changes for all Realtor members. 1.   Code of Ethics which is already in place but will change from every four years to 2 years. 2.   Code of Excellence- Updated education classes to include Social Media, consumer privacy protection, data accuracy political advocacy, technology and professional courtesies. 3. Updated and Upgraded MLS for all Realtors across the nation.   *These 3 areas were approved and changes to take place in 2016.   4. This area, #4, was not approved by the Board of Directors. National Chocolate Day October 28- Celebrate Eat Chocolate Today   Recently I was in Kona, Hawaii and went to a chocolate plantation. We walked through the groves and saw the pods hanging on the trees. They were 3 or 4 colors but told they were all the same.   Here is a pile of the cocoa pods that were picked off the trees.   The little green Geckos like to lick the pods but do not eat them. These Geckos were so cute.   I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and now I know where chocolate comes from.     Celebrate and eat chocolate today. Heard on the news that eating chocolate is good for your memory but the study gave the subjects 25 chocolate bars a day. Compressor Blew on Just Sold Home- HOW Company Repaired ASAP I recently sold a home in Rdlands, CA and it was it "turnkey" condition meaning it was almost new and full of upgrades and just looked to be in perfect working condition. Seller moved out and Buyers moved in and everyone was happy. Just this week I received a notice from 'Old Republic Home Warranty Company' that there had been a service call and they replaced the compressor. I was very happy to know it was taken care of quickly and efficiently but was surprised my buyers had not called or emailed me and that was puzzling? So I called my buyers and they said they didn't want to bother me so they just called the home warranty company and it was all resolved.
