  Sheriff’s Posse at the Desert Hills Outlet Mall   Last weekend there was a lot of traffic for the Labor Day holiday weekend sales at the Cabazon's Desert Hills Premium Outlet Mall.       The Riverside Sheriff’s Posse was there directing traffic, checking for Caifornia Handicap placards in cars, and keeping the peace. Usually the traffic is at a standstill but having the deputies there really keep traffic flowing nicely and made it safer.   Do Not Go Shopping and Leave your Dog in a HOT CAR   We read these headlines all the time and most of us abide by the rules knowing that it is morally wrong and that we could be charged with a crime for being negligent. But yesterday while shopping at Camarillo Outlet Mall, I came out of a store and another lady had just noticed that a big fluffy dog had been left in the car and only the front windows were down about 1" on both sides. The dog was already panting but did not look like it was in distress yet. The temperature was about 81 degrees outside so that is approx. 101 degrees or more inside the car which is not safe for a dog with a heavy coat of fur. Addicted to Starbucks so Make Your Drinks at Home Now!   I have a confession to make here. I am addicted to Starbuck’s tea drinks and coffee. Yes, the sad truth is almost every day I stop in and meet a friend or client or I just go through the drive-thru and grab an iced tea to go.   Just recently, one of my clients was so excited that her short sale had closed that she dropped off a gift. It was so sweet of her to get me a gift bag full of Starbucks instant drinks and teas. I was so surprised to get the gift but also surprised to know that Starbucks sold these items.   Here is a picture of two of the items; the Iced Coffee and Carmel Iced Coffee. Hibiscus Plants...Beautiful and Healthy Too The hibiscus species is commonly known in tropical and subtropical places all over the world.   We were at a party last week and it overlooks the canyon in South Redlands, CA. We were entertained by the salsa dancers at Cafe Sevilla’s Restaurant in Riverside, CA. My, What Big Antlers You Have!        While in Alaska we saw this magnificent moose lift his head up from the fields below. We were traveling on the train heading to Mt.McKinley.   Alaska is such a great place to go and spend a vacation.   This was our third trip there. The hotels are wonderful, the train is fantastic, and the cruise ship buses make travel so easily. But best of all is the nature in Alaska. Nature Road Trip from the Desert to the Beach This morning we decided to take a road trip. We left our home in the Valley and drove to Barstow.  From there we took the Mohave Desert Highway. The desert is stark but lovely. We were going to go looked for the endangered tortoises but decided to do that another day. I saw a lot of horses in the desert and many are wild. There are several companies who catch them and then adopt them out. Very big problem here.  Then we came to this lovely community in Kern County. There is lots of agricultural there and could see many cows and horses from the interstate. Cut across and found a lot of rolling hills and several lakes.   Ahoy...Ship is in Port Today we went to the Port of Los Angeles to see the recently renovated USS IOWA, the Naval Battleship that has been designated a floating museum. It was very exciting and I highly recommend it to all. It makes you feel very patriotic just knowing you are standing on the ship that traveled the seas for 50 years protecting our shores.       The ship was built in 1939 and commissioned in 1940. It served as an active battleship for 50 years. Three presidents stayed on board; George Bush Sr., Franklin D Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy. The ship was decommissioned in 1990.       We walked around and there were many military Veterans who volunteer their time to answer questions and escort us around the ship.
