Day 14 Thankful Challenge Grateful to ActiveRain Member - Cheryl Ritchie Saturday morning my computer crashed. Out of the blue, McAfee sent me a message that a "trojan virus" had been removed!" Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Next, I get a message that says "???Something is trying to enter computer" so I ignored the message and shut down the computer but alas it was too late because as I re-started the computer, the Microsoft box sent me a big green and white box that said to click to fix. Even I am smart enough to know that is a virus who is either going to take over or get a credit card from me. My husband came to the rescue and after restarting it 6 times, determined it had to go in to be cleaned out and backed up! So into the shop it went right then. My biggest concern was that I would not be able t...

Wells Fargo Bank Sending Refund Checks to Many FHA Loan Borrowers On 10/27/2012, L.A. Times reported that Wells Fargo is sending out Refund Checks to many borrowers who took out government backed FHA loans between 2009 and 2011. The checks varied in amounts but many were approximately $6350 and including $4847 for upfront premiums, $1154 for annual PMI fees and $355 for increased closing costs. The bank is sending the refund checks to borrowers who qualified for a Conforming Conventional loan but were steered to a FHA loan instead. Possibly the reason given was that loan officers made more commissions on the FHA loan therefore were not honest with the borrowers. On a loan for $350,000, loan officers made $8750 commissions (2.5% of contract price) on a FHA loan versus $6350 commissions (...

Univ of Redlands 65th Annual Feast of Lights     The University Of Redlands School Of Music will present from November 30 to December 3, 2012 the 65th Feast of Lights, a service of worship celebrating in spoken word, tableaux, song and orchestral offering, the birth of Jesus Christ.   Although presentations have differed slightly from year to year, the basic theme has remained constant: the story of the birth of Christ and the symbolic message of the star of Bethlehem as it led the Wise Men to the stable. At the service’s conclusion, the traditional Ceremony of Candles, adapted from an ancient rite, symbolizes the spreading of the light of Christ’s message by the twelve apostles throughout the world. For many faithful attendees, the tradition of the Feast of Lights marks the beginning...

My Favorite Flowers ....Make a Wordle.     Here is my Wednesday Wordles and I think it came out very nice. I edited it in www.Ribbit.com to added a frame, and my signature. So what do you think?   You ask how? This is how I did it. I just typed in some words all relating to my theme on a word document. Plus I changed a few words color, added quotation marks and tilde(~) mark between two works I wanted to keep together, and made some capitalized and others lower case. To make it simplier just type the two words together like instead of "Forget Me Not" just type "ForgetMeNot".    Type in www.wordle.net. Go to Create. I then highlighted the words (my theme) on my word document, put my cursor over it and just slid it over to the [1st Wordle box] like we do at ActiveRain and click on [Crea...

35 Safety Tips to have a fun and safe Halloween.   The observance of Halloween, which dates back to Celtic rituals thousands of years ago, has long been associated with images of witches, ghosts, devils and goblins. Over the years, Halloween customs and rituals have changed dramatically. In the United States, the first official citywide Halloween celebration occurred in Anoka, Minnesota, in 1921.     Today, many of the young and young-at-heart take a more light-spirited approach. Glowing skeletons and lighted Jack O' Lanterns decorate homes, while children dressed in all kinds of costumes begin flocking out onto neighborhood streets in search of treats. Make this year's holiday extra safe by following these safety tips on costumes, treats, decorations and more!     I have made of a list...

It Is October So Get Organized Before Jan....and try the NEAT Scanner   I typically keep my office pretty clean by putting my receipts all in one big box and the larger files and booklets in another big box. So when the first of the year comes, I am usually spending several weeks getting my records sorted, scanned, and organized. Does this sound familiar.   One of my colleagues told me she had bought a new scanner several weeks ago and loved it. Oh thanks I said but I have a pretty new scanner and it works fine plus it copies and prints as well. No she said, it is a scanner to organize your bills, receipts and puts them into the files you create in your computer. Really!   So I had to go and check out this scanner and after researching it, I bought one and started working on my files. ...

A Nature Walk and a Surprise Hummingbird   On the end of my walk yesterday, I saw this beautiful Hibiscus Flower blooming in all its glory and just as I took the photo, a hummingbird flew by. In this photo, you can see the little guy in the lower right corner. Here you can see the hummer trying to hug the plant and hide from me. I believe he is just moving through during the fall migration as his coloring is different from the ones in my area and yard. He is so cute! And here is the beautiful flower still blooming with the threat of rain today.   Here is a little hummer in my backyard last night.   California is a dream come true state no matter what your needs or wants are. We have year round warm weather, beautiful beaches, rustic mountains and desert communities. If you are looking f...

Back in September 2012, I wrote an article about the wild burros in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties living in the hills between Redlands and Grand Terrace. Did you know there are Wild Burros in Grand Terrace, CA? There had been a lot of media hype that week and spectators were driving around looking for the animals and giving them food and water as we were having a triple digit heat wave. Riverside and San Bernardino cities were having record temperatures of 111 degrees and this caused the burros to come out of the hills for help. Some interesting Facts: Spanish origin brought here from 1500-1800’s. Many times the travelers perished during the trip across the rough desert terrain so the burros would learn to survive and form packs.   Oatman, Arizona was a mining town from 1900-19...

As a full-time agent with nearly two years in the business, come February 2013, I've learned a lot about keeping a postive mindset and being focused one one thing.  I realize that while I would love to HAVE a certain listing, or DO the production of one of the big agents in my office, I am learning that BEING is the most important part.  I see this every week from one of our affiliates and I just wanted to give a little 'shout out' to one of my awesome affiliates.  He is super great and always positive with a smile.  While we have not had the pleasure of working together yet, it is only a matter of time.   I know that for a fact because he is one of the best social media networkers I know.  Check in somewhere on foursquare?  He is there with a comment, pronto.  Need a quick price quote,...

Over 200 species of birds migrate through each year. Many migrate at night and are confused by the urban lights, particularly those on tall structures. Lights left on in tall buildings lure many birds into fatal collisions, resulting in 1 billion bird deaths throughout the United States each year.   Lights Out for Birds is a program where building owners, managers, and tenants turn off lights within their buildings during the bird migratory season.  San Francisco was one of the first cities to participate in Lights Out for Birds. The program is spreading and is now active in 22 cities in the US and Minnesota’s state owned or leased buildings.     August 15 through November 30 is fall migration and the time to encourage businesses to participate in Lights Out for Birds by turning off un...

Fall is here so Celebrate! This morning is the official first day of fall, Sept. 22, 2012. It is my absolute favorite time of the year! I have been collecting pictures of fall to share this morning. Enjoy! The leaves are starting to turn golden tones and fall off the trees and the Mum flowers are in the stores and in a variety of colors so I fill my yard with all the colors. The vegetables are still pretty and bright and make a good pot of soup as the weather is cooling off and of course the coffee shops are selling Pumpkin Lattes and Muffins. Sunday we had Pumpkin Pancakes and they were delicious! I made Snickerdoodle cookies and frosted them with pumpkin frosting and fall sprinkles. A perfect gift to a friend or mail off as a care package. Oh yes, don't forget pumpkin bread...my favor...
