The mid-Peninsula location of San Carlos allows for easy day trips to some pretty marvelous spots. The towns of Monterey, Carmel and Pacific Grove, on the Monterey Peninsula are 3 places rich in history and world-class attractions. Here you'll find the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf, the Carmel Mission and the iconic shops along Ocean Avenue. One of my joys is the natural beauty of the Coastal Trail, shown above near Lovers' Point in Pacific Grove, heading toward Asilomar State Beach. What a joy to run (or stroll) here, listening to crashing waves, watching sea lions and occasionally a sea otter, hearing the cry of birds, smelling the salt air and feeling the cool wind in your face!
