Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights is Saturday December 12, 2015 Another fun thing to do during the holidays in our area is to see the Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights. The Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights will feature all sorts of boats, kayaks and dinghys, all dressed up for the holidays, and perhaps along with some Santas on a few boats.  Sponsored by the Oceanside Yacht Club, this colorful event takes place Saturday December 12, from 7 – 9 pm.  There are plenty of places to watch around the marina/harbor, including the concrete pathway, and assorted restaurants like my favorite, the Lighthouse Oyster Bar (great views year-round of the marina and sunsets from their upstairs location).    Are There Really More Distressed   Properties Rearing Their Ugly Heads?     Is it my imagination or are there really more distressed properties rearing their ugly heads once again in the San Diego market? Oceanside, like much of San Diego County, has seen the real estate market returning to normal. Detached home prices were mostly flat year over year checking in around $475,000 while attached home prices did go up about 7% in the past year to $270,000. Inventory remains low at about 2 months. Volume of home sales is up significantly(25%) compared to a year ago.As more homes now have equity, sellers can put them up for sale which should help the volume going forward. And the number of short sales and foreclosure are less than 10% of sales.
