Wow, what a crazy last 2 days for mortgage rates! We began Wednesday with a pre-emptive worsening of pricing by 47 bps (in anticipation of the Fed Meeting). By the time the day was over, we improved by 81 bps. Not to be outdone, today was even more eventful. After opening 31 bps worse, we proceeded to worsen an extra 68 bps.  Lenders throughout the country worsened their pricing by roughly 0.375 - 0.500 today as a result. Today's FED meeting caused quite a stir. Among the highlights of today's meeting were the following: Employment had continued to expand at a moderate pace, but the unemployment rate remained elevated Members saw the economic outlok as relatively little changed since the previous meeting The Committee agreed that it would be appropriate to continue purchases of MBS at a pace of $40 Billion per month and purchases of longer-term Treasury securities at pace of $45 Billion per month, as well as to maintain the Committee's reinvestment policies The Committee also retained its forward guidance about the federal funds rate, including the thresholds on the unemployment and inflation rates. Speechless Sunday - Big Waves At Ocean Beach San Diego   Currently, there is a storm in the South Pacific that is causing some very big waves to hit the coast in Southern California.  Here is a picture I took several months ago when the same weather situation occured.  This photo was snapped at the Ocean Beach Pier, OB San Diego 92107.  People love watching these big waves but only the very experienced surfers, swimmers and others enjoying the ocean, should go in.  Mother Nature can really put on a great show!          Speechless Sunday - Big Waves At Ocean Beach San Diego 09/02/2012
