Deck the Hulls | The Newport Beach Parade of Lights The 106th Christmas Boat Parade which is hosted by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce is going to be held from December 17,2014 to December 21, 2014.  At the Christmas Boat Parade, you view beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes cruise along the Newport Beach Harbor. It is a site to be seen and the yachts are amazing, Additionally homes are decorated and it is called the Ring of Lights. Homeowners and yachts go full out with amazing decorations and lights with generators. On the opening night of the parade on Wednesday, December 17 at approximately 6:30 pm. Things to Do in Newport Beach - Newport Dunes Lighting of the Bay   On Saturday, November 29, 2014 between 1pm and 8pm, Newport Dunes will have the lighting of the Bay.    There will be a Polar Paradise Ice Village with 4 sled hills and an ice scene to take your Christams card photos.   The Lighting of the Bay Program will begin at 4pm, and Polar Express will being at 6pm.   The cost for parking is $10 per car. 11/29/2014

What I love about Newport Shores is how different the views are from one side to another. Newport Shores is surrounded by a canal and there are Canal front homes on Canal Street, Canal Circle and 62nd Street. There are a few homes on 61st Street which also have a view and you can see that below. I often post about the view on the Canal Street side as it looks west and does have amazing sunsets. One thing about living in Newport Beach is the sunsets, I never tire of looking at them And if I am sitting at my desk, and can see the sky changing to a pink and orange color, I will get up to look. Orange is one of the main streets to access Newport Shores in Newport Beach. I was walking my dog Duffy about two years ago with a friend, Duffy was a puppy about 7 or 8 months old, and my friend has a Huskie and we were walking together to go to the beach. We were walking up Orange Street on a Friday evening about 5:30, so that means Coast Highway was very busy because it is a main thoroughfaire in this area - and the average speed is about 50 mph. Newport Shores is surrounded by open spaces and there is lots of wild life in this area, and it is generally fun to see - some of course are nuisances. It is not uncommon to see swans, ducks, blue herons and other birds that reside. The herons live on the fish in the Canal, and it is fun to watch them hunt. There are also coyotes, so as an Realtor I do tell people considering living here to make sure they keep their small pets inside (especially at dusk and at night). There are also raccoons, and currently there is a family living outside and they do not come to the door, but I do nothing to encourage them to come up. Last night I attended the Fashion Island Tree Lighting, hard to believe Christmas will be here in six weeks!! The event was lovely and VERY well attended. It was really difficult to find parking, and it was quite crowded. The tree lighting is two nights, and last night was the finale. The tree will remain lit during the holidays! The Christmas tree is located in the Bloomingdales Courtyard in Fashion Island. Had a great time visiting with friends and really nice dinner at the Yard House. Happy Holidays! 11/16/2014

Fashion Island Christmas Tree Lighting 2014   This year, Fashion Island's annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on November 14 and 15, 2014 at 6:00 pm. One of the things I love about living in Newport Beach is the beach. I love to walk to the beach, and this time of year it is so nice to be able to enjoy the beach without the crowds of people that come to visit during the summer months. You know it is fall because you can easily find a parking spot on the street, and of course the very few people that are on the beach at all. I took a walk on the beach this morning, and really enjoyed it. There were a few surfers in the water, and just a few people walking on the beach. The fabulous event will have Disney characters Mickey and some of his friends to celebrate the annual tree lighting ceremony. Be sure to join your friends and family for Fashion Island's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting.  I was at Fashion Island yesterday, and the tree is almost decorated . . . and it will not disappoint, and will be a beautiful tree lighting ceremony for sure. We are experiencing Santa Ana conditions here in Orange County, and basically what it means is there is an off shore flow or wind. The prevailing winds generally come from the ocean which keeps the area very cool. Yesterday and for the next few days we are experiencing Santa Ana conditions, so that means it will be windy, the temperatures will increase and there is increase fire danger.  This is a photo of the Newport Shores neighborhood in Newport Beach - there is currently no wind, but it is fairly warm right now, even at 7:15 am. Did you vote today? Voting is a privledge and a right and I everyone got out and voted. I did research through the candidates as well as the measures in our local area, and yes I did vote. The polling location was located in my neighborhood in Newport Shores in Newport Beach, so I just walked there this morning with my daughter. We took the time to research the individual candidates and the measures. I was concerned about certain ones that might increase taxes and traffic.
