MY MUSEUM MONTEREY On this very special and small Monterey Peninsula, I have often been asked "What is there to do here with the kids." Having been raised here and having raised my kids here I will tell you that there is plenty to do with the kids and the entire family! First stop My Museum located downtown Monterey..just click on the link to find out all about it. Also, visit Yelp and see the fabulous reviews about this special place. Don't forget to check their website for the calendar of interesting activities. My twin girls just turned 5 a few days ago and we have been members of My Museum since they were born. It has been a place to take the kids on a raining day, we have been to many birthday party's there and have never been bored--always something to do. The craft center is a fa...

Monterey Peninsula Shopping When I meet visitors to Monterey, they ask me "where can I go to shop?"  the largest shopping destination in Monterey is Del Monte Center.  This mall is a 675,000 square foot outdoor shopping center located at the main artery of Highway 1 and Munras Avenue in Monterey, California.  Opened in 1967, I remember that day well, I was 7 years old and this place seemed huge to me.  I lost my mother in Macy' and boy was she upset with me. tha mall has gone through transformations through the years and keeps getting better and better.  I have shopped there thousands of times over the years and it is a beautiful location with lovely flowers and seating areas.  National retailers: Apple Store, Pottery Barn, Macy's, Forever 21, Victoria's Secret, Williams-Sonoma, Lucky B...

EXPLORING MONTEREY CALIFORNIA PART 3 If the thought of Cannery Row drums up images of Doc Ricketts, John Steinbeck, Sardines, and beautiful ocean views...you have it right.  Cannery Row is an area of Monterey that is steeped in history.  My Grandfather fished during the sardine days of Cannery Row and my Grandmother and Aunt worked in the canneries.  I one time asked my Grandmother "wasn't it great when the canneries were alive and the sardine industry was going strong?" and her answer was "No, the whole town stunk".  I am lucky that my family has been here since my grandmother was 2 years old and the family came from Italy.  I have witnessed the changes and have been fortunate to have family members who could tell stories of the glory days of Cannery Row.  Well, the canneries are now s...

Exploring Monterey County Part 2 Today we will take a brief look at the main street in Monterey.  Alvarado Street is considered "main street", or downtown.  It is home to a pretty lively nightlife, there are a couple of large hotels and the Monterey Conference Center as well as a boutique hotel, and some boutiques and restaurants.  I will show some video of Alvarado Street and another of my favorite spot Rosine's Restaurant.  Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  The Culcasi family has been serving up great food 7 days a week for 30 years.  If you love good food with alot of heart, this is the place to go.  Great portions and fair prices make this a local and visitors favorite. Check out this next video of Rosine's Restaurant.  It shows their delicious house made cakes that you will fi...

Exploring Monterey, California.  I am putting together a series of videos showing different parts of Monterey County.  I want to give people a glimpse into the different areas and the beauty of Monterey County. In this video, I show you Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey.  A beautiful and historic place.  My Grandfather was an Italian Fisherman and I have many childhood memories of hanging out on "the wharf". It is also a great tourist destination and people from all over the world visit every year.  If you visit, I have included two of my favorite places on the wharf. Carousel Candies is a locally owned family operated candy store offering delectable sweet treats every day.  I love the owners and know them personally....they really care about their product and bring you only the best.  ...

I was in Monterey this last weekend with my son, and we visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium again!  We live so close (1hr), so we seem to go there several times a year.  I was just snapping pictures and took this one out the big window in the back...  Not a good angle, but still an amazing picture!  It is neat to think that the vast ocean is right outside this massive window. I know that we go for the fish...  But ya have to love the penguins!  I mean, who doesn't?? And up next?  Yup, the PINK flamingos! If you go you have to spend a whole day.  By the way, the outer bay exhibit is closed for upgrades.  That is the huge tank with the tuna, cod, sunfish, and other large beastly fish! Have a great day! -Chris

Look for me this Sunday and you will find me here... ...Running the Big Sur Half Marathon.   This is a bit of a misnomer as the race actually takes place in Monterey and the surrounding area.   The race begins on Del Monte Avenue in Monterey and passes by some of my favorite spots in all of California...Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, and the Monterey Bay aquarium. After that's it's onto Pacific Grove, up to the Point Pinos Lighthouse and then back to the Wharf for the award ceremony and hot minestrone soup.    Normally when I go to Monterey I prefer clam chowder, but after running a half marathon that doesn't sound too appealing. I'm told people tend to take longer running this marathon than others, because of how often they stop to take pictures!  And I can believe it, because it's tr...

It is mindbloggling to me that so many Realtors today are not embracing Social Media! It really is easy and FREE! What more can anyone ask for? Recently I spoke to a group of Realtors that think that Social Media is a fad or a waste of time--I guess it can be--but not if used correctly! I was told by some that they are "people persons" they have to speak directly to the people--like an open house--nothing wrong with an open house but how many people can you reach at one open house that takes at least 2 hours of your time? This usually when I am working with my Social Media sites. Social Media is not hard! Even if you start with just one thing at a time--like Facebook! We all know we should have a Facebook account in this business. Well that is a start. When I brought this up during the ...

CAROUSEL CANDIES ON FISHERMAN'S WHARF IN MONTEREY is a magical place.....   I have known Richard and Liz Elves for over 30 years.  They own and operate Carousel Candies on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey.  The store has been in the family since 1960..one can feel the love and passion that goes into their products the minute you walk through the door.  They are a perfect team and they have created a candy store that keeps people from all over the world going back again and again. When you walk down the wharf, you can smell the scent of their delicious caramel corn being freshly made... as you follow your nose to see just what that marvelous smell is... you finally see the Hot Pink, black and white store front and you will be  drawn inside not only by the sweet and wonderful scent, but by...
