La Jolla Cove One of my favorite hangouts is La Jolla Cove. Especially when the surf is crashing in, it actually splashes the pathway above the coastline. La Jolla Cove has a large grass area for picnics, sports, naps and people watching. I often flop and read my books there or walk my dog  in the cove.  It has a nice walking path for exploring and taking in the views. You have beach access on both sides of the park, (Shell Beach to the south and The Cove to the North) and if you are up for the walk, The Children's Pool doubles as refuge for the seals/sea lions and offers a walkway out into the crashing waves.        They host concerts here, a big July 4 fireworks show and many other social functions; even weddings. La Jolla Cove Sea Lions Dick Greenberg has inspired us to share our best photos for his November 2016 Photography Contest. This is my entry for the Real Life category in the animals subcategory.  World famous La Jolla Cove in La Jolla, CA, just north of San Diego, is known for a wide range of wild life  - seals, sea lions, pelicans, and cormorants, to name a few. It's a beautiful area and well worth a visit - enjoy a walk along the bluff or take out a kayak for a whole different perspective! I caught these guys taking a nice nap in the sun on the rocks by the Cove during a visit a couple of years ago. 11/23/2016

World Famous La Jolla Cove in La Jolla California   La Jolla California is a gorgeous, expensive and world-renowned destination in Southern California.   La Jolla Cove is also wildly popular, and beautiful, with abundant sea life, sea birds, people from around the world and offering spectacular views. Despite the crowds and limited parking, it is well worth a visit.   Or take in the views from the water in a kayak.   I was heading downtown a week ago to set up the SoCal CRS booth at the San Diego Convention Center for the SDAR (San Diego Association of REALTORS )convention on April 11th. Seals Frolicking in La Jolla, CA 92037! Speechless Sunday - Seal At La Jolla Childrens Pool Eighty years ago, Ellen Browning Scripps, La Jolla philanthropist, had a sea wall built at Casa Beach to provide protection from the waves so children could swim at this location.  Since then, local Harbor Seals have really taken to this premier piece of La Jolla real estate and every season have their babies here.  The seals are a tourist (and locals) favorite and to protect them during pupping season there is a barrier rope put up so people can't come to close to the seals and their vulnerable pups.  This season's rope was just removed yesterday.
