City of Indio Fastest Growing in the Coachella Valley The city of Indio added an estimated 3,328 people to its population according to the State of California's Department of Finance latest release of census numbers. Of the nine Coachella Valley cities, Indio contributed to more growth than any other city in the valley. All nine cities had a combined increase of 6,200 people in 2012.
