Last weekend was one of those pretty days that makes me happy to live in Southern California. Blue skies, 70 degrees, puffy white clouds, the Jacaranda trees were blooming and all in all a great day to be out and about. This video is a tribute to Deukmejian Wilderness Park in the foothills of Glendale California. This huge park of over 700 acres was devastated by the Station Fire last August. I was lucky enough to be in attendance when phase III of the park was dedicated. My husband, Bob Yousefian who was Mayor at the time, did the ribbon cutting. Former Mayor Larry Zarian was also in attendance. Govenor George Deukmejian was the honored guest and speaker. Last spring on an unusually clear and sunny day I took the time to go to the park and take photos. It was one of those rare moments that you never forget. This week Los Angeles home staging company, Moving Mountains Design,  staged a beautiful new construction townhome in Glendale for a builder. The development, located at 817 East Palmer in Glendale has very pretty common spaces which the builder furnished with wrought iron furniture. Spanish architectural styling and finishes throughout plus lovely landscaping make this development a stand-out in Glendale real estate homes for sale. I am so lucky to live in such a unique area! Glenoaks Canyon is a wonderful place to live and to be a Realtor. If you are a dog owner, it is so fun to live here! Case in point...our neighborhood association, Glenoaks Canyon Homeowners Association, or G.O.C.H.A. hosts a dog show for canyon residents once per year at Glenoaks Park. It is on April 24th this year-Next Saturday!  They call it the "Bow Wow Pow Wow." I am looking forward to it and hoping my overzealous dog, "Shadow" will participate in the dog parade! He is a Belgian Sheepdog and he is three years old. As they say, there are no bad dogs, only bored dogs. He is definately bored! He is a sheepdog without a sheep! I am lucky to live in such a place.  Where is that you ask?  It is Glenoaks Canyon in Glendale Calif. As a Realtor who lives in the canyon, I know how unique this place is. Close to everything, yet relaxed and laid back, it is a long dead-end canyon with approximately 800 homes. Many people here live in their homes for decades. I purchased my own home a few years back from a woman who had lived here for 50 years! Going hungry is a terrible thing. There's a program for senior brought to you by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Seniors 60 years and older are invited to participate in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. They can receive a free food kit once a month. This kit is prepared w/ specific nutrional needs such as: meats, canned fruits and vegetables, dry milk and related products, cereals and other grain products plus much more. Program Requirements for Seniors are: California ID or Driver's License Proof of Income - SSI or pension (bank statement, check stub, benefit award letter) or Medi-Cal Card The senior can also authorize someone to pick up the kit every month but they must bring that person the first time the register. Real Estate Market Report Glendale, CA                                                         February , 2010   At A Glance The Market Activity Index decreased for the third month in a row, creating the perfect storm for buyers:  low interest rates (although projected to increase soon), more inventory, and prices dipping.  Remember that you need to open escrow by April 30th and close by June 30th, so for a short sale that could be a challenge.   To lock your rate you need an accepted offer.   Market Index- 0.43 - down 4 points.
