Happy All Saints Day from Ferndale California by Robert Swetz   Today November 1st and is "All Saints Day" and Robert Swetz would like to wish everyone a wonderful day.   Today is a Celebration of The Dead ... A Celebration for loved Family & Friends that have passed into a new life     Here are some wonderful photographs that I took 2 weeks ago at Ferndale Cemetery located very close to Eureka in Northern California.    There are some tombstones that date all the way back to the early 1800's from Settlers that came from parts of Europe.   Let's try and remember our Family & Friends that have passed because life is very short compared to eternity and our bodies will NOT live forever either ;o)     Posted by Robert Swetz at 5:13 PM    Labels: All Saints Day, California, Eureka, family &...

Success one day at a Time - Lesson from a Farmer - Ferndale California    A young man from the city graduated from college with a degree in journalism and got a job at a small town newspaper.  One of his first assignments was to interview an old farmer who lived twenty miles outside of town. As he sat with the grizzled man on his front porch, the young journalist looked at his notepad and starting asking his questions. One of the first he asked was, "Sir, what time do you go to work in the morning?" The old farmer chuckled and replied, "Son, I don't go to work. I'm surrounded by it.?   We can learn a lesson from the old farmer. Opportunities are a lot like his work. They are everywhere. But the problem is that we often don't have the eyes to see them. As you approach each day, look a...

Ferndale California is one of Northern California's best kept secrets, and I wonder if Vegas Bob is letting Cali's secret out with all my posts & photos?Ferndale is a area south of Eureka/ Fortuna and the only way to get there is to cross the Ferndale Bridge that was built in 1910. Many travelers miss Ferndale because it is out of the way off of Hwy 101.The movies stars know about Ferndale because "The Majestic" with Jim Carey was filmed there many moons ago, which created a BUZZ years ago and some stars purchased homes & acreage there.  When you drive to Ferndale you will pass many old farms with HUGE acreage filled with cows, horses, sheep and more. Then when you get to the very small town of Ferndale it's like going back in time with all the very old buildings and homes that have be...

Vegas Bob spent several hours on the Pacific Coast around Ferndale California just south of Eureka in Northern California. Most of the beach was flat with no structure so VB was becoming bored because photography of beaches with no structure is boring. So VB saw a huge cliff with a White Cross at the top of it, well VB went out of his way to climb the top. Once VB got to the top he noticed that the White Cross which stood about 15 feet tall had been dedicated to some Pioneers that Lost their Lives at Sea ... here is the sign (below) that was on the cross.         Vegas Bob sat up by the cross and then even laid down, closed his eyes and took a little nap.     Beautiful Homes dating back to the late 1800s in Ferndale California ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj4Ph0QDU3Y2 min - Sep 11...

Beautiful Buildings & Homes dating back to the 1800s in Ferndale California This video was taken in beautiful Ferndale California, minutes from the Pacific ocean and Eureka. With a very low population Fernadale has become more noticed because of movies like "The Majestic" with Jim Carey and several others. When you drive through Ferndale it's like going back in time, the town has buildings & homes that date back to the late 1800s and the surrounding areas are huge farms, with horses, cows, produce and more.   Video taken by Robert Swetz (Vegas Bob) - 9-5-2010 - All rights reserved - Ferndale California The Victorian Village of Ferndale in California's Romantic Redwood ...  Searching for advise from Activerain Members (even Jason Crouch)!  I am searching for any type of advise from all Avtiverain Members on what your doing to make money! I don't want you to blurt out all your secrets, but some ideas on marketing with magazines, websites, newspapers, Activerain and any other sources that you can think of.  I have asked many questions from Activerain members and they always come around for me and anyone else that's searching answers to their questions.  The reason I am searching The Rain for these answers to my questions is because I am interested in purchasing some property on the California Coast.  I am posting this blog because Jessica was the first member of Active Rain that I was able to meet. And I drove around 700 miles to meet her and look at some property that she had listed in Ferndale California, very close to Fortuna and Eureka on the West Coast.  When I first met Jessica she wiped out her lab tap and we started looking at different properties. She was very excited to visit with me and she is a very warm hearted person.  Jessica is avery lucky person because she lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Northern California by the ocean.  We drove up and looked at this beautiful 3000 acres she had listed right in Ferndale and it was so beautiful. If I would have had the money, I would have signed the papers right then and there.  Another reason I am postin...

I have to admit, I’m a big fan of Jennifer’s soulful selling philosophy and her open checkbook policy, as well as going above and beyond to do the right thing for your client whether it’s your responsibility or not (within reason of course).  I represented a landowner who wanted to sell his ranch.  At the time I was a fairly new agent and so I teamed up with a more experienced agent in our office.  Our marketing attracted a developer who agreed to an initial due-diligence period offering my client a non-refundable $1000 fee for his time.  The buyer never deposited the earnest monies into escrow, despite my efforts to get them to honor the contract, and in the end decided not to pursue the property.    Now, it may only have been a measly $1000, but that $1000 mattered to my seller, and...
