Last night at Elk Grove City Hall, the Developer, General Growth presented Elk Grove Promenade to those residents attending. For those who were unable to attend...here is what you missed.  Macy's is one of the key stores in the Open-air Promenade Mall along with Barnes & Noble and Cinemark Theaters. Other "major" stores will be announced later as soon as General Growth secures contracts with the remaining stores.  The Elk Grove Promenade will be 1.1 million square feet on 107 acres. Elk Grove will soon have its first Shopping Mall. No, I didn't say another strip mall...I said Shopping Mall. The target date for Elk Grove Promenade Mall is projected for October 2008. This has been discussed prior to the City of Elk Grove becoming a City in 2000. So, it is safe to assume that a lot of thought and effort has been put into the design, location and retail. Oh.. Day Light Savings Time in Elk Grove, California...The time has been changed by those in great places of most importance and authority...As I was sipping my morning coffee on this auspicious Sunday, I noticed that the atomic clock that is in tune with the satellites up in space did not know that the time had indeed changed. It registered the same time as the rest of the clocks in the house that I had not taken the time to update. This is my town where I live, shop and work. Elk Grove officially became a City the year that I moved from the Bay Area in 2000. Very little housing was in Elk Grove as compared with today...a real boom took place over the past six years. In fact, I believe that I officially heard that Elk Grove was the fastest growing City in the United States which certainly wouldn't surprise any of the residents here. The old timers hated to see us all come. They had a peaceful life with one stop sign in the town with wide open spaces. Today was a great day! The Red Hat Ladies of Elk Grove set out for a ten minute ride to Old Town Sacramento where we took a 2 hour ride on the Spirit of Sacramento River Boat up the Delta. Yes, the Red Hat Ladies were out today wearing their chosen colors, purple and red. This group of Red Hat Ladies is known as the "Cat in Hats."  The Spirit of Sacramento is a 110 foot paddle wheeler with several decks having both an inside view as well as the ability to roam the outside decks. We were all very grateful that the forecast rain did not occur and hamper our day.
