May 31st is Opening Day at the 2019 San Diego County Fair Friday May 31st is a big day.  Of course it’s TGIF, but more importantly it’s Opening Day at the 2019 San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The nation’s largest County Fair runs through July 4 (the fair is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays EXCEPT July 1st and July 2nd).  The San Diego County Fair always has a theme, and this year it’s “Ozsome,” inspired by the classic tale about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! The Del Mar Fairgrounds are world famous for a wide range of events throughout the year, including a variety of trade expos and concerts, and besides the annual county fair are probably best known for the Thoroughbred Racing Season (stay tuned for updates on that!). The Del Mar Fairgrounds are located just off the 5 ...
