Cathedral City California- What I learned Today while writing an info page for my Wordpress blog...... Cat City as we call it has a lot more history going for it than I once thought.  We think o f it as a multi-cultural ethnic mix, gay straight and whateever else may come along.  It has a strong working community, work-ethic background that is hard to come by now-days. The city’s name was taken from “Cathedral Canyon” to the southof the city so named in 1850 by Colonel Henry Washington because its rock formations were reminiscent to that of a cathedral. The city began as a housing subdivision around  1925 and was incorporated in 1981.  The city grew rapidly in two decades as the 2006 population estimate is 48,000 and with the latest census numbers bringing it up to around 52,000. If you've always rented a place to live, buying a home can seem like a monumental undertaking. This report breaks down this home buying process into clear steps.   Seven Steps to Transition from Renter to Homeowner Step One: Identify Your Needs and Wants Begin your search by considering the kind of home you need and want. Write down your specific requirements, such as the number of bedrooms, size of yard, floor plan, location, schools, etc. Step Two: Determine How Much You Can Realistically Afford Consider your budget and financial obligations. Decide what monthly house payment you can really afford. Most mortgage consultants advise limiting your payment to no more than one-third of your net monthly income. If you're unsure, contact your mortgage consultant to assist with the calculatio...

Most often, a move represents an important step forward for the adults in the family because of a new job, promotion, transfer to a different office, or financial success has allowed them to buy a more comfortable house in a different neighborhood. Moving from one house to another is seldom easy and enjoyable for adults (who chose to move), and can be especially troubling for children (who prefer to stay where they are). But if parents are mindful of their children's concerns and needs, they can minimize distress and discomfort.   A Move Affects Children and Adults Differently People typically live in a house for about five years and then move on as their jobs and incomes allow. Five years is a small percentage of an adult's life, but it's half the lifetime of a 10-year old: It includes...

I met a new client the other day while I was showing a rental to my clients in Rancho Cucamonga.  They came through really fast, as my clients were leaving and asked to quickly run through the home to see it...after they did, I got their information and immediately started working with them to get applications completed, paystubs, etc. Now...a few days later, looks like they want to go out before they get their credit report to me.  Why can't they have me pull it through one of my sources, I ask?  They are not really telling me. I also suggested that since they have less than 600 FICO scores, that we send the credit report possibly to listing agents on properties that they are targeting, along with their financial package to see if the Landlord would be accepting of their "package". The...

THE ART OF THE FOUNTAIN Fountain of LifeThe Fountain of Life was designed by artist Jennifer Johnson in coordination with architect Reuel Young, A.I.A. It was built by House of Stone and Fountains and Landscape Enhancements. Artisans whose families have sculpted stone for more than 600 years carved the fountain pieces out of adoquin stone from a quarry near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Once the individual pieces arrived in the desert, Johnson spent more than a year adorning the fountain with hand cut mosaic tiles and glass. Reflecting the nature and history of the desert, the fountain features three central stone columns surrounded by sculptures of big horn sheep, lizards, tortoises, fishes, shells, wildflowers, birds and other creatures found in the area both now and in the past. The government has given buyers using the credit another three months to close sales, and the initiative is being imitated on a smaller scale by states and private companies. But some think the market would be better off if we laid it to rest for good.   Karen and Greg Osmon had outgrown the three-bedroom Winston-Salem, N.C., home they lived in with their two children, so they put it up for sale. Unfortunately, they did so in December of 2008, at the height of the financial crisis. With the economy in a downward spiral, they couldn't find a buyer, and when the property didn't move for over a year, they were forced to pull it off the market. The Osmons decided to try selling again in early May of this year, but they'd missed a chance to capitalize on an incentive that had boosted home sa...

This billboard was located in Cathedral City on Date Palm Drive a few months back and I snapped this pic as I drove by...now there's another one that is a different saying, something about Bill Gates starting MICROSOFT during a Recession.  Whoever does these is at least hopefully helping boost morale....Let's face it people times are tough...no matter who you are or what you do... Is this happening anywhere else?  Just curious.
