Cathedral City California- What I learned Today while writing an info page for my Wordpress blog...... Cat City as we call it has a lot more history going for it than I once thought. We think o f it as a multi-cultural ethnic mix, gay straight and whateever else may come along. It has a strong working community, work-ethic background that is hard to come by now-days. The city’s name was taken from “Cathedral Canyon” to the southof the city so named in 1850 by Colonel Henry Washington because its rock formations were reminiscent to that of a cathedral. The city began as a housing subdivision around 1925 and was incorporated in 1981. The city grew rapidly in two decades as the 2006 population estimate is 48,000 and with the latest census numbers bringing it up to around 52,000. Ideall...
