Real Estate Facts and Figures January 2011 There is actually optimism in the Market. Home Is Still A Good Investment There is a saying that the easy way to riches is to own Real Estate. I still strongly believe that, despite the media bashing of how poor the real estate market is. It is true that we have had several years of sharp price declines and many home owners have lost their equity and their homes. The fact remains that the typical seller who purchased a home eight years ago experienced a median equity gain of $33,000- a 24% increase- while sellers who were in their homes for 11-15 years saw a median gain of 40%. First Time Home Buyer Stats  It is a fact that the majority of homes sold in USA in 2009 was to First Time Home Buyers! Infact 47% of the homes sold nationwide were to first time home buyers! I came across an article by the National Association Of Realtors. They did a survey and here are some facts I obtained from The 2009 National Association of Realtors Profile of Home Buyer and Sellers. Here are parts of that Survey which I thought were most interesting. Home Buyers: The number of first-time home buyers rose to 47 percent of all home sales from 41 percent of transactions in last year's study, and was the highest on record dating back to 1981.The profile shows the median age of first-time buyers was 30 and the median income was $61,600. Who Is using the Mortgage Interest Deduction MID One of the benefits of owning a home is that you get a Mortgage Interest Deduction. Here is a brief snapshot of who's using Mortgage Interest Deduction. Those households headed by persons between 35 and 45 years of age are the largest takers of the mortgage interest deduction, this is from National Association of Realtors research. Based on Internal Revenue Data from 2008, these households take an annual average deduction of $13,829, compared with $9577 for households headed by persons 65 and older and $8799 for households headed by persons under 26. Reasons for this? Typically, home owners in the 35-45 bracket still have many years left to go on their mortgage, and a relatively high proportion of their monthly payments goes to interest. ...

Dia De Los Muertes Picture Kodak Moment The above picture is one that I took just before the Annual Anaheim Spooktacular Halloween Parade. Both my son and daughter are skeletons in the front row.  Only an hour before the picture was taken my wife took care of all the make up and costume preparations. It was a lot of work and we almost didn't make it in enough time to snap a photo before the kids had their big day 'floating' through the streets of Anaheim.
