http://MikesDailyMarketReport.com:  The Durable Goods Orders dropped by 0.4% in September; however, when you exclude Transportation, then it went up 0.4%.  This is a good basis to view, as Transportation is loaded with high ticketed data that can skew the numbers too much in one direction.  Stocks are Mixed today, as Investors keep pushing aside inflation concerns, but are more interested in the Q3 Earnings Reports.  Tensions are rising again between China and US, as the FCC issued an ultimatum to China Telecom to leave the US Market, as they're being viewed as a security threat.  MBS is currently Up 25 bps (after closing +9bps yesterday), so Mortgage Rates get a bit of a boost for the 3rd day in a row.  Also, helping MBS is the decline with Yields, as they touch on their 25 DMA and sit...

Consider alternatives to trick or treating. More and more parents are choosing healthy and safe alternatives to trick or treating.        These are some party ideas that switch the focus away from the candy. Have a costume parade. Dressing up is a huge part of the holiday. Let the kids show off their costumes. Dream up creative categories so that everyone gets a prize. You could honor the best princess costume based on a movie and the princess with the prettiest shoes.  Tell scary stories in a haunted house. Halloween is supposed to be creepy. Turn your basement into a dungeon or make your backyard look like a cemetery. Practice some ghost stories or encourage the group to make up their own as they go along. Plant appropriate sound effects and props to enhance the scary parts.  Indulge ...

What does a Pumpkin Patch conjure up in your mind? For me a Pumpkin Patches conjures up children playing and parents introducing them to having Fall Fun. Creating Jack O’ Lanterns, bringing the family to the various fun locations.Lucky for children and families in Los Angeles there are many opportunities to enjoy  Pumpkin Patches. There are Pumpkin patches in  Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Culver City, Torrance, and West Hollywood just to name a few.Homeowners in my  neighborhood love to decorate their front yards, their steps and porches with pumpkins. I have seen some homes in Beverly Hills that have bales of hay and  corn stalks and pumpkins that will compete with some of the Pumpkin Patches people bring their children to. In all fairness there are some Pumpkin Patches that have eleva...

4-Bedroom Homes for Sale in Carlsbad October 26, 2021 Update Some Carlsbad home buyers want, or need, more space than a 3-bedroom single family detached home can provide. It may be due to a growing household, a desire for multigenerational living options, space for an at-home office, or maybe room for regular guests. A 4-bedroom (or more) can provide that much needed space.  The inventory of single family detached homes remains limited in Carlsbad compared to demand, which has resulted in homes selling quickly, with a number of homes selling over asking price. Here’s the most recent market report for Carlsbad at What’s My Carlsbad Home Worth - Carlsbad Home Sales for September 2021 for a perspective on the market conditions including recent sales, inventory, and average sales prices. As...

Your kids will love healthy alternatives to Halloween candy if you make them frightfully good. These are some ideas for healthy holiday food and celebrations that are low on sugar and still a lot of fun.Healthy Foods to Substitute for Traditional Halloween Candy:1. Make your own sinister snacks. Kids love gross things. Use cookie cutters to design homemade cookies in shapes like ghosts and bats. Bake gingerbread zombies with missing limbs. You can adjust the conventional recipes to lower the sugar and substitute whole grain flour for half the white flour. • Kids will also love to eat fruit and vegetables if you arrange them right. Peel grapes so that they look like eyeballs. Make a skeleton shape out of carrot sticks and sliced vegetables.2. Try sugar free or organic candy and gum. If y...

http://MikesDailyMarketReport.com:  We have 2 Home Price Indices (HPI) being reported today.  The first is the Case Shiller HPI, which follows the 20 largest US Markets.  It went from MoM of 1.5% in July to 1.2% MoM in August, as it's YoY dropped from 20.0% to 19.7%.  Similar reading by the FHFA HPI, which measures homes with conforming limits.  It went from 1.4% MoM in July to 1.0% in August, as it's YoY droppedd from 19.2% to 18.5%.  As we hit the fall season, we have reported slower home sales; so, this is a great time for First Time Home Buyers to re-enter the Market.  Inventory is still relatively low, but less competition.  Next, we move on to Consumer Confidence, which rose from 109.8 in September to 113.8 in October.  It beat forecasts of a drop to 108.3.  Lastly, New Home Sales...

Last month, the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce visited Washington DC.  While there, they visited Arlington Cemetery and placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  I did not make the trip, but it reminded me of my visit there in 2004.  It is a very solemn occasion. This is from the Arlington National Cemetery website:According to the Arlington National Cemetery website, in October 1921 four bodies of unidentified U.S. military personnel were exhumed from different American military cemeteries in France. On October 23, 1921, the four caskets arrived at the city hall of Châlons-sur-Marne (now called Châlons-en-Champagne), France.Town officials and members of the U.S. Army’s Quartermaster Corps had prepared the city hall for the selection ceremony. Early on the morning of October 24, 1...

Small Business Saturday in Carlsbad Village~ November 27, 2021 ~ It seems the holiday shopping season arrives earlier every year. Halloween is just around the corner, with Thanksgiving soon to follow. Which means it’s nearly time to celebrate the 12th annual Small Business Saturday in Carlsbad Village. The first Saturday after Thanksgiving has become the official day for supporting small businesses throughout the US, and there will be plenty of opportunities at our Carlsbad Village merchants to #shopsmall. Many residents, and visitors, support these small businesses already but this is special opportunity! The Carlsbad Village Association website notes that approximately 67 cents out of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the community. That’s pretty impressive, and importan...
