Easter Greetings from Sun City Grand in Surprise Arizona Flowers in the main entrance to Sun City Grand clearly welcome vistiors to Del Webb's flagship community on this balmy Easter morn.   Easter Sunday 2013 was 89° in Surprise Arizona, a stark contrast to weather experienced in the east coast. Recreation centers were filled with golfers, golf carts, residents and vistiors enjoying their time basking in the sun. This Sun City Grand resident parades her talents each holiday on these Old Man Cacti (Cephalocereus senilis). It always amazes me how the cactus is decorated throughtout the year, although the thorns are difficult and almost impossible to remove. This year the cacti resemble three Easter bunnies. Hula is like a song of the earth. If the earth could dance, it would dance the hula. I had the opportunity to watch my hula group rehearse for the annual Arizona Hawaii Festival in Tempe. Sitting in front, watching and encouraging the dancers was reminiscent of my first hula recital when I was 4 years old. This will be littlest lady first performance. Sun City Grand residents are encouraged to participate in a used bicycle collection program that ends on March 23, 2013. This effort is to support newly employed homeless persons and poor families in the Greater Phoenix area. Children and adult bicycles (in any condition) will be awarded to recently employed homeless people who require the bikes for transportation.  Prior to use, a maintenance check and tune-up process will be administered to each donated bike.
