Most people retreat indoors at 11am peeking outside at 5pm.At noontime yesterday my husband and I enjoyed delightful salads at the Anacapa Restaurant in Corte Bella Country Club in Sun City West..The freeway daises’ at the restaurant entrance were hearty and thriving. After our leisurely lunch we retreated to the heat of my black car. My black Mercedes registered 120 degrees when we first jumped in, cooling to 105 after a few minutes. This is going to be short and sweet, so many people come to Arizona to play golf that we probably have more golf courses than schools. At least in Sun City West we do. Community golf courses "7" schools "0". Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Sun City West is an Active Adult, 55+ community. So, no schools and for the most part no school tax. Yes there are some annexed areas that do have school tax but for the majority of homes it is a great big NO! Golfing, however, is a great big YES!!! Besides the 7 courses operated by the Recreation Centers there are two more, Hillcrest Golf Club, a public course and Briarwood Country Club at Sun City West, a private course. Bowling is a big deal all over the country and Sun City West Arizona is no exception. At Johnson Lanes in Sun City West seniors take their bowling very, very seriously. Johnson Lanes offers 30 finely calibrated lanes, state-of-the-art pin-setting and automatic scoring, and a pro shop. There is the 300 wall where pictures of the many bowlers who have rolled a 300 are posted. There is the PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) Senior West Region event played here. There is also fun times that the residents spend with their children and grandchildren.
