Payson, Arizona is a great town! Small town 4th of July! Can you get any more American than that? Consider yourself invited to Payson's 4th of July celebration! There are usually some activities in the park during the day, and fireworks start, basically, at dark, down at Payson's Green Valley lakes at the end of Main Street. At least half the town shows up with blankets and lawn chairs and covers the grass around the lakes. This photo is from the deck of one of the condominiums on one of the smaller lakes (there ARE several for sale, we'd be happy to show you one if you are in the market). People lucky enough to own one of the condos or a house overlooking the lakes have front-row seats (and often have parties for their friends). If you are coming to the park, you have to come early ...

Hi from Payson, AZ. We just took a listing in Mesa del, and I thought I would post about the neighborhood.    Mesa del (as the locals call it) is a subdivision about 2 1/2 miles NE of Payson. One turns East on Houston Mesa Rd. at the North end of Payson, just past the infamous traffic roundabout that went in awhile back. The views on the way are some of the prettiest in Rim Country. The subdivision has everything from old single-wide mobiles to nice, large site-built homes. The nicer homes tend to be around the edges of the subdivision, and many of them back to National Forest and have gorgeous views.   Mesa del Caballo means Horse Mesa, and there are many horses (and a few llamas) in Mesa del. The way I understand it, one horse is allowed per lot, so you could actually have your own ca...

We just listed a home in Payson North subdivision (actually there are several units of Payson North), and I just have to post about how much I like the area! This was one of the original "nicer" areas of town. Homes in the area include everything from older single-wide mobiles, to newer double-wide manufactured homes, to big site-built houses. Most of the properties, even the older ones, are well maintained and attractive. I'm told that originally all of the homes were supposed to have some "Swiss" element in their design. The original shopping center in town is Swiss Village. When we first moved to Payson (almost 15 years ago, now) many of the homes had what looked to me like Pennsylvania Dutch "hex" signs. I'm not sure how those qualified as Swiss. Many of the older places have scallo...

Thinking of coming north for the holiday? One thing to do in Payson, Arizona on any holiday weekend (other than fight the lines of traffic headed out of Phoenix into the cool country) is to attend Craft Shows. Paysonites seem to love these! Which is great for the locals who sell to the holiday crowds. These listings are from the Payson, Arizona Chamber of Commerce site: "26th - Craft Fair - Safeway Shopping Center. 8 am - 2 pm. Benefits Prostate Cancer Foundation and American Cancer Society. " "26th, 27th - Pine/Strawberry Arts & Crafts Show - Arts and Crafts at the Pine Community Center, food vendors as well. 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Sat. 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sun." "26th, 27th, 28th - Mountain High Days - Courthouse parking lot. Arts and Crafts. 9 am to 5 pm " If you come see us, remembe...

Hi From Payson Hi, from Payson, Arizona. Inventory of homes for sale is definately climbing in Payson. I checked listings (residential- any kind) added in Payson proper for each month of 2007. January added 42, February added 37, March 81, April 88, and there are already 19 new listings in May. (Notice a trend here?). There are now, including homes that went on the market prior to 2007, over 400 active listings in Payson. By contrast, a grand total of 115 properties have sold in Payson in 2007. The average price for the active listings (this is in Payson, any homes- mobile, manufactured, site-built, condo, etc.) is currently slightly over $180,000, but not very many listings are coming up new under $200,000. The average for SOLD properties for 2007 is nearly $250,000. Higher end propert...

I Love This Picture! We took this picture looking north to the Mogollan Rim from near the Payson airport. The Rim is about 20 miles north of Payson in this picture. Monsoon clouds are building over the Rim, with a "thunder-boomer" probably coming down Payson way later in the day.

Hi from Payson, AZ. By no means everyone in Arizona knows where Payson is (I know this by the blank looks I get when I mention it to someone in Phoenix). We're about an hour and a half drive north of the Phoenix area, and about 5,000 ft. UP. Long-time residents have their own vocabulary. These are a few of my favorite Payson-isms: Seasonal creeks- The first time I went to see a house that listed a seasonal creek I couldn't figure out what they meant, until someone pointed out a ditch meandering across the backyard. Then I nearly died laughing. But I HAVE learned a little respect for these. I've seen them fill up fast when it rains hard in the monsoon. They come in variable sizes, from ditch to dry wash. Pigs- This is what a lot of locals call javelinas. Which really confuses the issue, ...

Just thought I would add this "for pretty". It is a picture of the Mogollan Rim, about 20 miles north of Payson. We took it from near the Payson airport on a summer day with a monsoon storm building over the Rim. AWWW- isn't that nice?

For brokers and agents out there who work in rural areas where power is either not available, such as rural farms, ranches and remote access properties it is important to know your stuff regarding the solar energy market today. This subject may not apply to a lot of brokers and agents at this time but I assure you that if your intentions are to stay in the real estate business this subject will eventually arise.  Solar power is the technology of obtaining usable energy from the light of the Sun. Solar Energy has been used in many traditional technologies for centuries and has come into widespread use where other power supplies are absent, such as in remote locations. Solar energy is currently used in a number of applications: including Heat and electricity. For commercial and industri...

As many people know the Payson, Pine & Strawberry areas are very popular with the tall pines, many rivers, mountains, and lots of seasonal activities. I am seeing more and more people who are moving to Payson and commuting to work in the Metro Phoenix area. With the new Beeline Hwy we got a few years back the commute is around one hour between the city and this Mountain Getaway. There are also many new folks moving in due to the jobs that the new Home Depot has brought and there are even more large businesses moving in here. Last I heard possibly a Target. On the weakends in the summer the streets are flooded with valley people coming to enjoy the national forest and to camp, ride their atv's, fish and hike the trails. I am glad to see the growth here. Payson really is perfectly located...
