KRMC celebrates formal pact with Mayo Clinic, only the second hospital in the nation to become a member of the newly created Mayo Clinic Care Network.  This three year agreement formalizes and expands the relationship and communication that extend the Mayo Clinic’s expertise to health care in Kingman.       KRMC Medical Center was established in 1983 in Kingman Arizona..  Kingman Regional Medical Center has grown to become an example of the great things that can happen when a hospital is owned and operated by the community it serves.   Their facility is a 235-bed non-profit medical center that has grown into a facility capable of providing highly technical and specialized care not normally available to residents living in a rural setting.     Retiring in Kingman, Arizona offers many wonderful luxuries.  You will find that Kingman is the heart of historic Route 66 and the gateway to the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam and to Lake Mead.  The community itself is located within Mohave County in Northwestern Arizona.  The luxuries that Kingman offers include an affordable community, spectacular natural beauty, and the sunbelt lifestyle.   Kingman, Arizona’s real estate sits at an elevation of 3,336 feet, which gives the community an ideal southwestern climate.  It’s never too hot or too cold and the dry climate great for those who suffer pollen allergies.  That’s something you won’t find in Kingman.  However, you will find that the natural beauty consists of aspens, pine trees, birch trees and oaks.  This offers a sharp contrast...

The unfortunate answer to that question is "YES" we are still in a depressed market here in Mohave County, AZ. It is a great time for Buyers and Investors to make their first home purchase or investment property purchases but is very hard on the average home owner who needs to relocate for a job transfer, can't refinance because their home won't appraise for what they owe, has suffered a job loss and can no longer afford the home but due to the market prices can not sell for enough to pay off his mortgage.                                                                                                        These are troubling times for most. Job loss is at all time highs. The highest we as a country have seen since the great depression.   Credit card interest rates have gone up and cre...

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors approved a zoning change that will allow Sun West Bio Diesel to proceed forward with their plans to construct a plant just outside of Kingman.  In spite of vocal opposition to the plant from Valle Vista residents concerned about the safety of the project the Supervisors unanimously approved the change. The planned site, currently zoned agricultural/residential will be changed to heavy industrial providing the plant is started within two years.  If the company fails to produce the property will revert back to original zoning. The company still needs to get air, water and other permits from the state and federal goverment agencies.  This rezone is just the first step in the process to build and operate the facility. Hualapai Valley Solar is one step closer to reality.  Pending approval by the Western Area Power Administration the 4,160 acre solar power facility will include an electrical substation, a 500 kilovolt transmission line and hopefully provide power to the Meadview-Phoenix line.  Next step is public comments on issues in connection with the Environmental impact statement. The company has signed a letter of intent with the City of Kingman to provide 2275 acre feet of waste water to help cool the plant adding income to the city.    For more information regarding Kingman and the surrounding area visit our website at www.kingmanrealestate4u.com

If you are in town the weekend of Oct 17, come downtown and help the Downtown Merchants parade celebrating the 100th birthday of the historic Powerhouse.  Following the the parade enjoy the Walk-in-the Park Fall Festival at the Powerhouse and adjacent Locomotive Park.  The Parade starts at 10 a.m. Built in 1909, the building was constructed by the Desert Water & Power Company to illuminate the interior of mines in Goldroad, Oatman and Chloride.  Soon after the plant also transmitted power to area businesses revolutionizing Kingman merchants.  The Powerhouse also provided electricity for Hoover Dam during construction.  The construction of Hoover Dam brought an end to the production of electricity for the Powerhouse and it sat idle for 56 years until a group lead by Toby Orr, Local comme...

The Board of Supervisors unanimously votd to adopt a property tax rate of $1,2637 per $100 of limited assessed value for 2010.    County Manager Ron Walker states that tax rates have decreased approximately 7% over the last few years. Although values were raised last year, this reduction should help property owners in the county that are suffering through the nationwide economic turn down. ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) will issue  an Air Quality Control Permit to the steel reshaping plant just west of Kingman. If all goes well, Kingman will be getting a Christmas present in December 2010.  Dave Zanetell, project manager for the Hoover Dam ByPass Project, has announced a target date of late fall 2010 to open the eagerly awaited bypass that will cut  an hour off the travel time between Kingman and Las Vegas.  Now that the support arch for the bridge (named MikeO'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial) is complete and will rise approximately 900 feet above the Colorado River.  It has taken almost 20 years from conception to the awaited completion. The project has seen many delays, but looks like it is finally coming to completion!  Good news for Kingman.   For more information on Kingman and Mohave County Real Estate, visit www.kingmanrealestate4u.com.

Kingman, Arizona is the ideal area for creating "green" or sustainable programs. In the last few months, probably the last few years, there has been a huge amount of development that wants to create solar farms, wind farms and biodiesel plants. This week has been an extremely active week trying to get approval for a biodiesel plant and also a solar farm in the Kingman area. These two entities have brought their presentations to the county planning and zoning commision for Mohave County on Wednesday of last week and also this Wednesday. There has been a small contingency in the area where these programs want to build their plants that say they want progress but "nimby" - not in their backyard. With the support of the Kingman/Golden Valley Association of REALTORS that brought forward soli...

A Canadian Company, Rocher Deboule has manganese in its sights in Mohave County.  They have purchased Artillery Peak located 80-90 miles south of Kingman. A company spokesman cites that currently 95% of the manganese used to make U.S. Steel is imported from overseas, particularly from China.  China's own needs have reduced the amount of manganese available for export.  One of the few American reserves of this mineral is located at Artillery Peak.  Although mined before, the company believes there may be up to 150 million tons of 3-4% grade ore, making Artillery Peak the largest source of manganese in the U.S. The company hopes to have the mine up and running in 2 1/2 years with the hope of employing about 100 people.  They currently are in the process of permitting the site. Kingman is hosting it's annual Relay for Life Event on June 6-7th at White Hills Elementary. Cancer has taken my husband and father, and this year I intend to join in the event in honor of their lives and the life of my middle son, a childhood cancer survivor.  I'm participating not only for them, but for the caregivers that experience the heartbreak of the disease. There are many fundraising events that proceed the Relay.  Our team is sponsoring an event at the local I-Hop on Tuesday, May 26 where 25% of your dinner check will go to the cure.  We are also hosting a Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 30th at Realty Executives located at 2403 Stockton Hill Road. I can't imagine what it will feel like when I place the luminares in honor of my lost loved-ones on the field of the event.  I miss ...

Mohave Sun Power, LLC has announced plans to build a 340-megawatt solar concentrating plant 27 miles north of Kingman.  Planned to be one of the largest projects of its type in the world, it will use the same parabolic trough technology with m olten salt storage as the Albiasa Plant previously announced. Along with the plant proposed for White Hills, this is the 4th project to plan relocation to Mohave County! Although there is some concern about water useage for these projects, I am seriously hoping for some give & take on the part of local residents considering the need to promote development and job creation in the county.

Mohave County Planning and Zoning has another solar power plant on the horizon.  Smaller than the first, the Comission will consider a minor amendment to the County General Plan, the Yucca Area Plan and a rezoning request for Havasu Solar Electiric to construct the site.  The farm will sit on 17.7 acres of property east of Interstate 40 and north of Boriana Mine Road near Yucca. Along the same line, it looks like the County is in discussion to amend the General Plan to allow more renewable energy projects to occur!  For more information about Mohave County, Kingman and Golden Valley visit our website at www.kingmanrealestate4u.com.
