If you are looking for housing while you are at Fort Huachuca for a TDY assignment, you certainly have a few options.  You can choose to stay on base at teh VOQ or BOQ which is often full.  Another option is of course staying in a hotel, but who wants to live out of a hotel for 3 months?  The third option which often goes under the radar is renting in the local area.  There are apartments as well as homes in the area that are often available on a month to month basis and will accept your per diem rate which is now $83/day.    As a provider of luxury homes in the area for TDY rental, we feel that although you have options, there really is only one option that makes sense above all the other options.  Let me highlight the Pros and Cons of the options you have. On Base Lodging: Pros: close...

Yes...... I made a AR milestone! This is my 100th post and I thought it was time to express my thanks and thoughts to the ActiveRain community. My time here on ActiveRain has been enriching and educational. Here on AR, I have a forum that allows me to reveal my thoughts on this roller coaster career in real estate, cries for help, embarrassing moments, and random rants. It is a great forum for me. Here, I don't have to make eye contact, worry that I have offended someone (well, at least I hope not), and I feel secure enough to be perfectly honest with what I'm thinking. That's refreshing after a stressful day or week of trying to make everyone happy. Blogging has fulfilled my need to write, or at least make an attempt to express myself in words.Even better than the personal benefits I h...

This morning I am reading the latest real esate news as I do every morning before I head out and I see an article called "Dumping the Real-Estate Agent Can Spur Home Sale" by John F. Wasik.  (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_wasik&sid=apd_.pfBYc6Q)These types of articles are so full of @%*&!!! Please forgive me, but I am mad as hell and need to speak out. It really bothers me when we are discounted like used car salesman. I don't see these media outlets reccomending people represent themselves in court or to operate on themselves. Real estate is a huge investment and involves in many cases hundreds of thousands of dollars. There's a lot at stake financially when someone buys or sells a home. A good or bad outcome can affect their net worth, as well as thei...

Southeast Arizona is amazing......OK, yes I live here and sell real estate here so I am a little prejudiced. If you have never visited Arizona, you are truly missing and incredible vacation and maybe missing the best place to live in the country. Today I am talking about Fort Huachuca. Fort Huachuca is Located in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Its name comes from an obscure, local Indian language which, when loosely translated, describes a "place of thunder." Fort Huachuca is an active Army installation here in sunny Sierra Vista and is a national historic landmark. Fort Huachuca, Arizona was built around 1877. If you make the trip out you will see the fascinating history and lasting contribution the U.S. Army and its calvary made to our area. One of the interesting items of note about our for...

Fort Huachuca Sierra Vista is also home to Fort Huachuca, a national historic landmark and a modern army post headquartering the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School, Army Communications Command and Army Electronic Proving Ground. Built in 1877, Ft. Huachuca's original Victorian-style officer's quarters are still in use.In March 1877, Captain Samuel M. Whiteside and two companies of the 6th United States Cavalry established a camp at the mouth of Huachuca Canyon. This isolated camp had two missions: protect settlers in the area and stop Apache raiding parties from escaping into Mexico. In 1882, the camp became a permanent station and was designated a "Fort." Soldiers constructed buildings of wood, stone and adobe. By 1886, Fort Huachuca became the advance headquarters for General Ne...
