James Lynch was born in Baltimore, Maryland back in 1839. He attended Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire spending only two years there. He moved to Indianapolis where he committed himself to the ministry, preaching in Galena, Illinois.In 1863, he was appointed Missionary and Government Superintendent in Beaufort, South Carolina. In 1868, he moved again to Mississippi as an official of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Shortly after his arrival he organized the Republican Party in Mississippi. He also became the publisher and editor of a local newspaper. He died in 1872, because of Bright’s disease, he was 34.What you may not know about James D.
