Memorial Day is upon us!  Traditionally a sign of Summer...not officially on the Calender, but for real life... to most of us Memorial Day means Summer!   I hope it means more than that to most of us.  I hope Memorial Day means more than Summer to all of us!   I remember going to the cemetary on "Decoration Day" as a kid to help decorate the graves of the people that were known to have served in the military.   Living here in Mountain Home, Arkansas, Memorial Day signals the start of Tourist season...but this is a very patriotic community and there will be several observances that are the real reason for Memorial Day.  Please take a moment or a day if you can, and focus on the sacrifices of those that gave all have given for Our country...and to protect those countries that we hold as A...

Open House ? I will be holding a house open Saturday afternoon 1 pm to 4 pm.  Not exactly earth shattering news in a Real Estate Blog.  The Home that I will be holding open is at 14 Battlefield Place.  This is a Great location just south of the town of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Most Real Estate professionals hold an Open House frequently.  I am curious if any folks have special things they do for their Open House?... When I considered doing an Open House I called the seller and asked if she would allow me to do it.  She was happy to allow the Open House and went on to tell me that she would be out of the home and her dogs would be as well!  Great news for me. Potential buyers are always more comfortable when the seller is out of the house, and it is just plain smart to have the family pe...

Slower Pace of Life is what you will find here in the beautiful Mountain Home area of North Arkansas.  I forget sometimes what a difference it can make for folks...Slower Pace of Life.  I bumped into a past client that had purchased a home through me a couple years ago.  I almost did not recognize him.  His whole demeanor has changed.  He had a calm about hime, a peace.  He was the one that brought it up. He told me that the change of environment probably had saved his life... I thought he was puffing, but it became clear after visiting a bit that he was being very open and totally believed what he was telling me. We all have to make a living and sometimes we get caught up in the rut of doing so.  I am so happy that my client had been able to take control of his life and has found first...

Encouraging News!  I am certainly encouraged by the recent news on existing sales that I read yesterday.  The numbers reported looked good...not great, but good.                         The news I read today about Pending Sales Looked even Brighter!!!   The American, and probably Canadien, People need to be able to feel good about the largest investment that most people will ever make. It amused me the other day when I saw a T.V. news report stating that rents are creeping up as people did not choose to purchase real estate....did they think rents would go down?  Here in the Mountain Home, Arkansas area the Real Estate Market is certainly better than it was a year ago.  I hope that your market is receiving Encouraging News!

Enjoying The Ozarks on 2 Wheels this past weekend.  Our oldest son was in town for the holiday weekend and it made a great excuse to get out and Ride!                         We rode with him yesterday as he made his way back home to central Arkansas.  The Dam in the photo is The Norfork Dam which is on the North Fork River and was built by the Army Corp of Engineers in the late 1940s. The reason for the water release is that the Lake is at flood level.  The Lake is open and people are enjoying fun on the water.  The Rivers are also open to fishermen (people) as well as boaters. For Enjoying The Ozarks on 2 Wheels The Mountain Home area offers some of the best scenery and riding roads in the country!  Oh,....The views are pretty from a car too.

Memorial Day, What is it to You?  I was raised in the Mid-West and then here in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  A Holiday like Memorial Day is important to most of the people that I know.  My Dad, Duane Howard, served Our country during The Korean Conflict.  Officially a Police Action.  Thousands of Americans Served and paid the ultimate price fighting for their country.  My dad was by his own statement, a lucky man.  He served in Korea, and came home to start a family.  Memorial Day, What is it to You? There will be parades for the holiday, and there will be flags.  Here in the Twin Lakes Areaof the Ozarks, it seems to be the Official Kick Off to the summer boating season.  I Love playing on Lake Norfork or Bull Shoals Lake.  I sincerely hope that everyone has a great time...full of picnics,...

Weather... part...#*$@#*  Wow,  We have been so fortunate here in Mountain Home, Arkansas to not be facing a major clean-up from a Tornado or a Major Flood.   The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers has had to open the flood gates on both dams....Yes We have 2 big beautiful lakes here...both man made, both originally constructed in late 40's and early 50's for flood control and as economic stimulus programs. The White River is accepting 55,000 cubic feet per second of water.  This is a record for Bull Shoals Lake and the White River.  Home owners along the River are of course concerned.  So far, We have escaped any structural flooding.  Hopefully the rains that we have been experiencing will slack off...We need to dry out for a bit. Weather... part...#*$@#*  I hate to gripe...We could be dealin...

Troop 156 has consistently over the last 3 years been awarded for having the highest rate of advancements within the troop for Ozark District!  That is quite an accomplishment.  This Troop is focused on being a Boy le...

Dodged a bullet again in North Arkansas...Our thoughts and Prayers are with the folks in and around Joplin Missouri.  A monster tornado ripped through Joplin Mo. last evening approx 6:00 pm.   Currently they are saying that 89 dead and hundreds still missing.  The tornado hit St. John's Hospital in Joplin, they only had 5 minutes notice to move people to shelter. As is normal in the mid-west, and The Ozarks,  The survivors are pulling together to help the living cope with this disaster and tend to the dead.   The storm was on the ground for at least 6 miles and left a trail of destruction. Here in Northern Arkansas we got torrential rain and severe thunderstorms through the night but we are thankful that we have Dodged a bullet again in North Arkansas.
