The Craighead county fair is this week. Starting Monday Sept. 21-26 is fair week. Time for great fun, food and rides. For several years Century 21 Indian Realty has had a booth at the fair. This year as our door prize we decided to build a doll house. After many hours of glueing, painting, cutting, sanding and putting it together we have finished the doll house. So if you are at  the fair this week, dont forget to sign up for our doll house drawing, who knows  you may be our lucky winner. I will post more pics of the complete doll house soon.

Are you ready for this....Here is the power of Active Rain. I have made alot of friends, learned so much from all my fellow real estate agents, lenders, and all who have written such great post. I have also made some great connections and have several referrals from Active rain. In June I had my first closing from a Active rain contact. So yes, Active rain does work. My clients are on the internet looking for a real estate agent in Jonesboro, Arkansas. They contacted me, they drove to Jonesboro from another state on Monday and on Friday we had an accepted offer. We closed the deal within 30 days, they had the moving trucks on the way and are now happy home owners. At this point I am reaping the rewards of Active Rain. Thank-you Active Rain it does work!!

Please visit for pics! Our home is located at 5513 Viney Creek Lane in Jonesboro, AR, and is among other homes in the quiet Southbend Subdivision. It was in the 2008 Showcase of Homes. The all brick exterior features fabric draperies on the front and back porches as well as fabric awnings on the front porch and front windows. There is plenty of space on the front and back porches for outdoor furniture so that you may enjoy peacefully sitting outdoors, where the curtains may be open or pulled for extra privacy. The back porch is also conveniently screened-in. Sprinkler systems are found in the beautifully landscaped front and back yards. Also in the front of the home you will discover an extraordinary ivory and brown garage door that supplies convenience and style. Indoors you will find ...

Jonesboro is home to several  manufacturs to list a few we have Nestle, Frito-lay, Thomas-Betts, and our new Nice-pak is calling Jonesboro home. I know the economy has a bit of a slow down and the news media is always reporting about job loss, but Jonesboro has several places that are hiring. The new  AT& T customer service company Startek is hiring in April along with Nice-pak. So if you are making a move to a new town to look for a job, you may want to consider Jonesboro. We do have jobs available, our housing is affordable, our schools are the best and we have great shopping. If you need a real estate agent to help with finding you a home please give me call.

I have had so many emails from active rain members wanting to know how my English Bulldog, Bruno is doing. I have'nt blogged about him in a while. Bruno is happy as ever just  look at these pictures...lol. Just give him food, water and a good boy  treat and in that order and you have made his day. So today Bruno and I would like to wish everone "Happy Valentine Day".   Valentine day is the day mostly associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "Valentines". The U.S. greeting card associations estimates one billion Valentines are sent each year worldwide, making this day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year, behind Christmas.   In this day of the economy and all that is going on, I think we all could use and show a little love to someone. Maybe each of ...

I would like to thank First Community Bank in Searcy for being the sponser of a free continuing education class. In Arkansas as a real estate agent you must complete 6 hours of CE to renew your license each year. Ron and Cheryl Kelton teach several classes a year in CE and I always try to go to the one they teach in Searcy. Being from Searcy it gives me some time with family and friends. This year our class was on changes in 2009 ARA forms. We do have several changes so it was great to listen to why the changes are there and how they affect your transactions. First Community Bank provided the lunch, which was very good and also gave away some really good door prizes. I also got to visit with several realtors who blog on active rain. Barbara Duncan has been a realtor for many years in Se...

Just got finished reading Tinker's blog on our trip to the nursing home on Sat. I agree with her 100%, it was a trip well worth spending part of an afternoon there. I know that some will get to go home on Christmas day, some won't and I also know that the stuffed bears that we gave them won't magically make it special for them but I also know what I saw when I walked in and said Ho Ho Ho.... the majority of them smiled and or laughed. The little lady in her wheel chair that ask Santa if he was the guy that called bingo for them and ended up telling him that last year she sat on his lap and gave him a kiss on the cheek (she also gave him one this year) then there was the lady from Shug town that jump up from getting her nails done just to give Santa and his helpers a big hug and last but...

Last Saturday our Century 21 Indian Realty loaded up Santa Claus and our little elf Laney Gardner and headed to our local nursing home. Once we got there the staff directed us around to all the rooms. Santa and our little elf passed out teddy bears all the residents loved getting the bears and a big bear hug from Santa. Some of the rooms we visited would not let you leave they just wanted an ear to listen to them and a friendly smile. I thought of all the wisdom and great stories these folks could tell us all. Some of them  dont have alot of family to visit them so they are so excited to have company. I really enjoyed the time we spent there and I know the other agents loved it too. I hope we do this again next year and yes David we voted you Santa again next year too. You are a wonderf...

The Salvation Army bell ringers officially kicked off nationwide on Thanksgiving Day and will continue through Christmas Eve. The money from this project will provide assistance throughout the year. The Jonesboro Salvation Army has started asking for volunteers to be a bell ringer for one day in December. This includes elected officials, community leaders, and businesses which include real estate professionals. It is called "Celebrity Bell Ringers" day. Our office Century 21 Indian Realty joined in again this year. My bell ringing this year was at our local Sams club. I will say I am so proud of our town we came through again. Our red kettle was over flowing with money. Almost everyone who entered Sams dug deep into their pockets to give something. As they gave we also passed out candy c...

I would like to thank all our veterans who have served and who are serving this country HAPPY VETERANS DAY!! Thank you for making the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA a free country. I have had the pleasure of working with several veterans and I always tell them how proud I am for their service. I was showing a very nice man a house today and when I was asking him about a loan he said I have a VA loan. So today on Veterans Day I had the honor of working with this gentleman and he talked for a long time about his service to his country. My uncle was a pow so I am always so thankful for all  service men and woman. I am currently working with a young soldier who will be deployed on Dec. 5th. I have had the pleasure of working with several veterans this year and I must say they all have been a joy ...

All  summer gas prices in Jonesboro topped almost $4.00 gal. Today as I was getting gas it was so nice to see it at $1.88 gal. It is getting close to the holidays and if you have to travel far you will appreciate the price going down. I drive a yukon so anyone who drives a suv understands we are real proud to have gas prices go down. I also think as gas prices drop we all will have a little more money to spend on other things instead of putting it in our tanks. This will hopefully  help spur our economy. I know these prices wont last  long,  but lets enjoy it while we can. So what are the gas prices in your neighborhood!

I hate to make comments about my Realtor family, but recently I've witnessed a couple of incidents which cause me to feel sick. I guess I'm just different. I was raised with a conscience, and I like to sleep at night. Being a real estate agent isn't always about money. It's about providing a service. Do you know what your agent is doing? Is he/she representing you fairly and with integrity? If I list a house today, I will enter it into the Multiple Listing Service ASAP. I will not wait 8 days to put it in the system!! I will also not steal a client from another agent. Nor will I advertise another agent's listings as my own, unless I have some kind of specific permission to do so. Yes, we all take ethics courses, but you can't TEACH ethics to everyone! You're either ethical or you're not...

Jonesboro’s Valley View High School captured the state baseball championship on Saturday by defeating the conference rival Rivercrest 5-4 in the Class 4A state final at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville. Seven seniors were across the state taking care of unfinished business while Valley View High School’s Class of 2008 made its way across the stage during commencement ceremonies at the Convocation Center. To make the day even more special the coach’s son, Kevin Burgi, senior catcher, is a member of this team. What a nice father-son victory. Congratulations to the graduates and the team!

Jonesboro’s Nettleton High School Softball Team, the Nettleton Lady Raiders, accomplished their unltimate goal in winning the class 5A title, going with the premise “one base at a time” to defeat Malvern in Fayetteville on Friday. Shelby Wise was named the game’s most valuable player. She allowed just one run over seven innings to end one of the most remarkable seasons in Nettleton’s history. She allowed only five earned runs against her and finished the season 29-1. Congratulations to this fine group of young women.
