She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1929 with minors in physiology and chemistry. She went on to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1933. She worked at Columbia University from 1938 to 1959 as an anesthesiologist, not being fulfilled from 1959 until her death in 1974 she worked for the March of Dimes.
