A few weeks ago Praful Thakkar had a contest asking for his followers to guess a list price on a home.  I submitted by WAG (wild A$$ guess) and never thought anything about it.  This morning I received a email from him telling me I had won. He asked for my mailing address so he could send me a small token of my having the closest answer to the price of the home.What a wonderful surprise so early in the morning. Louis Schwitzer was born in Bielitz, Austria-Hungary back in 1880. He emigrated to the United States before WWI. I don’t have a lot of information as to his education however, what I can tell you is that he worked as an engineer designing hydraulics for use in bus transportation. He was also a pioneer in automotive cooling fans, water pumps, oil pumps and the turbocharger.Because of his work he made a small fortune in business and became a philanthropist. The University of Indianapolis bears his name as does the women’s dormitory at the nearby Butler University. William Jackson was born in Georgia back in 1837 to John & Eliza. I don’t have any information as to his upbringing but what I can tell you is that he moved to Alexandria, Louisiana just prior to the outbreak of the American Civil War. He served in Company C of the 27th Louisiana Infantry Regiment.After the war he settled in Orlando, Florida. He remained in the Orlando area as a farmer and fruit grower. He married three times fathering 13 children. Only 10 of his children made it to adulthood.When they left Orlando they moved to the north shore of Lake Tohopekaliga what is now Osceola County, Florida where they operated a general store and sawmill. David Ramsay was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania back in 1749. He graduated from Princeton University in 1765 receiving a medical degree. In 1773 he settled in at Charleston where he had a rather large practice. During the American Revolutionary War from 1776 to 1783 he was a member of the South Carolina legislature. He also served in the South Carolina militia as a field surgeon.He was imprisoned in 1780 after the fall of Charleston for nearly a year in Florida. After his release he served in the Continental Congress from 1782 to 1786. He was appointed by a court to examine on William Linnen for attempting to murder his attorney.   Alcohol and accidents. This was changed but you’ll get the idea… Please take care of yourself. A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health and the Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that 18% of traffic accidents are alcohol related. This means that the remaining 82% are caused by idiots who drink water, coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, juices, and eat yogurt and stuff like that.   Have you seen a “jetty” lately? Now, now let’s not go jumping to conclusions as you know words can have different meanings.  Therefore you see this daily even if you’re not around water.  Do I have your attention?  Most of you would assume the meaning of (jet’ e) would be a kind of wall built out into the water to restrain currents, protect a harbor or pier.  It also might mean a landing pier.  Now for the meaning I have chosen; an overhanging part of a building.  So now I ask you have you seen a jetty lately?  What say you? 11/24/2011

  Are we operating under a “pandect”? No I don’t think we are because this is changing every year.  The attorneys need to have something to do and they are good at it.  The problem I have is the agents who make these possible and required.  Now for the meaning of (pan’dekt) a complete body of laws; legal code.  The laws keep changing because of agents doing something they know they shouldn’t do and therefore making it possible for the law to change or a new one to be enacted.     What say you? 09/12/2011

Under this ordinance drivers stopped for a traffic violation who cannot show proof of auto insurance meeting state requirements will be issued a citation and will have his or her vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. The City already tows the vehicles of uninsured motorists involved in traffic accidents. The new ordinance is in response to the large number of people driving in the City of Dallas without the proper state required auto insurance.
