Townsend Foster was born in Anna, Illinois back in 1886 to Zachary and Ruth. He attended the University of Illinois where in 1907 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree. In 1909, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Coast Artillery Corps.He served with General John J. Pershing on the Mexican Border. By then he was assigned to the aviation corps where he set records for endurance flying. During WWI, he was assigned as the Aviation Officer for the American Expeditionary Force in 1917, later to be replaced by Colonel Billy Mitchell.What you may not know about Townsend Foster Dodd, is that he was the first US pilot to receive the Distinguished Service medal during WWI, he was also the first commissioned US Army aviator.     I know a person who is “penurious” do you?   In your dealings have you came across a “humbug”?   Have you ever worked with a “flibbertigibbet” person? It took some looking for this one.  Just stumbled on it and thought to myself why not write something to represent this type of personality.  I’ve had dealing with these types and I frankly don’t care to have one of them as a client.  You might at this time wonder what the meaning of (flib’er ti jib’it –te) is and I guess now is the time to tell you the meaning is an irresponsible, flighty person.  So now that you know the meaning have you had any dealings with these types you would want to share?  What say you? 12/02/2011

  Do you have enough “nimiety?” I received a comment on one of my posts yesterday.  The comment was left by a young lady that I do not recall of ever getting a comment from her.  So she stated I may have too many subscriptions to keep track of! LOL I wonder if there is a word for that?  Why yes Pamela there is and it is (ni-mahy-i-tee) the meaning of which is overkill, overload, overmuch, overrun oversupply overweight well you get the idea.  Anyway welcome Pamela to wordsmith and I hope this is a long relationship.  Now what say you???  11/13/2011

  Sister Mary, who worked for a home health agency, was out making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas. As luck would have it, a gas station was just a block away. She walked to the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas.   The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned.   Since the nun was on the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car. She looked for something in the car that she could fill with gas and spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient.   Always resourceful, she carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gas, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.   As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two men watched from across the s... 10/02/2011
