Hey Auburn fans just wanted to spread the word that there have been some parking scams going on during the home football games related to the parking situation.  A few unsuspecting individuals have paid money to park in places close to campus only to discover their car was towed after the game.  Although the police are attempting to crack down on this situation and it is not widespread please be cautious where you park even if you are paying.  One tip to consider, is making sure you have a car identification tag or window display to show you have been authorized to park in the space given to you.  Why close a otherwise happy day with the frustration of having your car towed.  Be cautious and don't let this happen to you! War Eagle!!

It's been nearly 40 years since the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970. Founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, it was established as a time for communities the world over, to recognize our deeper responsibility by minding our ways in caring for our natural resources. It was intended as a global reminder that The Earth is, essentially, our home... so let's all pitch in and do our part to promote clean and economical uses of energy and preserve our irreplaceable, natural resources. I don't think it's enough to simply think about recycling trash. It might be more to think about the freedoms we have here in this country to make the choices and make a difference--- even to the point of recycling some of our habitual ways of thinking. While recycling office equipment, plastics, glass and pape...

I just posted the schedule for Auburn University Baseball's 2008 season. It brought up a memory that I'd like to share. He's 6 now, but when my son, Landon was slightly over a year old, I took him to his first baseball game. Now, I'm not an idiot. I know that a baseball game is no place for a one-year-old. But I was running out of ideas for distractions for this screaming child and thought, "what's the harm, we'll sit behind the barricade."Well, we got behind the net along the first base line above the visitor's dugout. However, we couldn't get close enough to home plate where the top, above-us was netted because the ballpark was packed. It was an SEC game against Florida. Beautiful day, 80 degrees, mostly sunny and a late afternoon game with the sun behind us. I had gone to J & M books...

The Tigers are back in full swing (pun intended) for their 2008 season at Plainsman Park in Auburn. They completed a 4-game sweep against East Tennessee State on Monday. Billy Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park may be the most gorgeous diamond not only in the Southeastern Conference but the NCAA. If you haven't been, take a child out to the ole ballgame. Tickets are only $5 and you're sure to enjoy even if you're not an Auburn Tiger fan.2008 ScheduleDateOpponent / EventLocationTime/Result02/22/08vs. East Tennessee StateAuburn, Ala.W, 6-302/23/08vs. East Tennessee StateAuburn, Ala.W, 12-102/24/08vs. East Tennessee StateAuburn, Ala.W, 12-402/25/08vs. East Tennessee StateAuburn, Ala.W, 12-202/28/08vs. Florida StateAuburn, Ala.6:00 p.m. CT02/29/08vs. Florida StateAuburn, Ala.3:00 p.m. CT03/0...

Ever wonder where how the names were decided on all the buildings at Auburn Univerity, Alabama?  To begin with, Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum begins its 34th year of service to the Univeristy.  It was originally called Memorial Coliseum, in memory of the Auburn veterans who died, renamed in 1987 for Joel H. Eaves (1914-), the school's all-time winningest coach. Six years later, Jeff Beard was added to honor the former athletic director (1951-72). "The capacity of the six-million dollar multi-purpose building was reduced at the beginning of the 1994-95 season to 10,108 from its original 12,500-seat capacity since 1969. It was then increased to 10,500 in 1998-99. The first phase of a $10-million renovation project began in 1997 with new baseline and sideline seating, a new playing floor, ...

Just a little trivia for all the Auburn football fans.  Ever wonder how the Tiger Walk was started?  The tradition started in the early 1960's.  Two hours before kickoff of every home football game, Auburn fans will line up along Donahue Drive to show their support for the Auburn football team as they walk from Sewell Hall to Jordan-Hare Stadium.  It has become so popular it has been listed on the players' game weekend itinereary.  The largest Tiger Walk to date was on December 2, 1989 before the first ever home football game against rival Alabama.  An estimated 20,000 fans packed the one block section of road leading to the stadium. Actually, many other schools have copied this tradition. So now you know how the tradition was started.  WAR EAGLE!!!!  GO AUBURN!!!!

After a hard work week, what could be more fun than being at Toomers Corner after a victory by the Auburn University football team.  War Eagle!!!!  Go Tigers!!!Also, just a little trivia about Toomers Corner that I thought would be interesting for the upcoming football season. The center of town, where the Auburn University campus meets the City of Auburn. Toomer's Corner, where College Street intersects Magnolia Avenue, has long been the gathering place for Auburn athletic celebrations. After any football win, and significant victories in other sports, Auburn students and citizens alike join forces to "roll" the trees (and anything else that doesn't move) at Toomer's Corner with toilet tissue. Celebrations after significant football victories can go on for hours and leave the heart of ...
