This year, Chestermere Community Services would like to help families who are in need of winter clothing for this coming winter season. Chestermere lake is a 750 Acre Lake just 5 miles outside the City of Calgary.  As it is an irrigation lake the water levels are dropped in the fall to protect the irrigation system and the boat docks. The levels are once again increased as soon as the ice is off of the lake. Wow we just have had our properties appraised for a line of credit.  Was that an eye-opening experience!  According to the banks an appraiser can no longer go back further than a few months.  So if no home as big, or as nice or with the features that your has has sold you are SOL.  They are no longer allowed to adjust for time.  For example if a home sold last year at this time you could take a look at the market as a whole and determine that homes had gone up or down 5% and make an adjustment for time.  So for example if all that has sold in the past 3 months are foreclosures, they will take the foreclosure price and make their adjustments from there.   This is a problem when most of the better lakefront homes sell in the summer and what is left may not be the most desirable homes, the...

As you're aware, last June Chestermere raised over $113,000 for the fight against cancer through the Relay for Life event.   Most people participating had a personal connection to the disease, either having had cancer themselves, or having a loved one who was currently fighting it or who had lost the battle.  For the Community Services Department of the Town, it was very personal as one of our staff members was fighting cancer at the time and our team's name reflects that:  M*A*S*H (Make a Survivor Happen).  We were thrilled to find out at the event that our deepest wishes had come true - that our staff member had just gotten the news from her doctor that she was in remission!!  We invite you to join us in the continuing fight against this disease by supporting our fundraiser - cancer C...
