This dish was invented in the late 1890's. It's not certain who came up with this dish but we do know in 1893 the New York Times published the recipe. In the 50's and 60's most diners and cafeterias served a version of this dish. I was bitten by a Pit  Bull on July 2nd and I wrote a post about it then. Here is an update (after the original picture).The photo above was taken in the emergency room. The following days it got to look MUCH worse due to the swelling and bruising. Today it has improved but is still swollen, bleeding and bruised. With all that in mind, today was court day.The owner of the Pit Bull was a bit defiant but the judge would have none of it. He was fined and it was made very clear to him that if his dog was ever outside the house it had to be directly attached to him, period!Coincidentally my next Notary appointment was right after court and when the gal came in I noticed a professional name tag around her neck.  She was a Dr. who trains nurses.
