Hi Leanne Smith

The majority of Realtors want out of NAR.

But one group who is desperate to stay with NAR are the Staff Members at many Boards and Associations.

One Board that I am well acquainted with - the CEO and the Tech Director take regular trips to NAR meetings.   Many, perhaps most of those meetings are held in resort hotels or swank convention centers.  Those trips for the Staff are all-expenses paid.

If that Board pulled out of NAR, that gravy train would stop.  Whenever the discussion of "leave NAR" comes up, the loudest voices for "we must stay with NAR!" come from the Staff.

Their wasteful spending is hardly news Leanne Smith and the anger has shown it self by brokerages abandoning it. We all hate wasteful spending.

Good morning, Leanne... I already knew about that. I'm wondering what took everyone so long to wake up to this insanity and waste of "our" money.

As the money is followed, more than a few surprises are revealed.  But is any of this really much of a bombshell?  Or shocking?  Or eye-opening?  💣🤯👀

I remember when they filled an entire brand-new office building with $1,000+ Aeron chairs back over 20 years ago.  NAR blowing money on stupid stuff is nothing new.

I have not seen any of expenses they have wasted Dueson, but I am sure there are some doozies.

I knew years ago, when NAR had HQ in Chicago, and offices in DC, they were not the more fiscally responsible affiliation out there.

What is the alternative? I am open to suggestions.

Mismanagement is to be found everywhere you go now a days. The answer to everything is not money but the stewarding of it. Business that run on profit & loss understand this. Taxing people excessively, which is what this is, never sat/sit (s) well with me

The spending by NAR has been excessive for the last 40 plus years. It will not be restrained until the organization is dismantled and many others behind them.

Leanne, not surprised.   Many would like to remove themselves from NAR, but stay with their local and state associations.   I called, we cannot in Colorado.   You are in, or you are out.

Leanne I haven't seen a recent article of wasteful spending by NAR but I wouldn't be surprised if it was going on yet again. I think most of us are fed up with all the nonsense and BS that they've been doing for many years. We're stuck with being members which makes it worse.  No choice.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

Hi, Leanne Smith. You're raising an important concern that many REALTORS share. The optics surrounding NAR’s spending certainly don’t look good, especially when small business owners are pinching pennies. It feels frustrating to see funds used in ways that may seem excessive or unnecessary.

For those paying dues to local and state associations as well as NAR, such spending can be hard to swallow. Feeling undervalued is a common sentiment among members. As scrutiny increases, many wonder if this could lead to further legal challenges regarding the 3-way agreement.

Constant dialogue about how funds are spent is crucial. Ensuring transparency and accountability will be vital for restoring trust within the community. This conversation matters not just for NAR's reputation but for every member who contributes. Your thoughts on this issue echo what many are feeling.

I have long felt that executive compensation has blown out of reason.  and we have let it happen.  Specifically, there are issues with our industry that mirror problems across our nation.  Reform/cleanup, readjustment is needed but I for one do not have an idea of where to start.  I am not even sure there would be universal support for this statement.

I was truly surprised (not really) that yesterday one of the headlines was that the us military continues to fail audits.  It lasted one news cycle and never got any tractions so I suppose that is not a concern of many americans.

Hang on, there might be changes coming but I suspect it will be business as normal next year.

Disappointing. The majority of Real Estate agents barely squeak by yet they're paying such high wages for the executives. For starters, I think headquarters should be located in a moderate area not a high priced city. Secondly, their salaries should be examined. I don't know how they can justify those salaries. Lastly, there should be a budget for trips and that doesn't include extravagant expenses. And, paying for dog sitting shouldn't be covered. We all pay our own dog sitters if we choose to have a dog. Good Grief!
