My credit reports are all frozen. It is free to freeze and unfreeze. 

Yes, I have experience with data breaches. It happens too much.  I get letters when it happens. The most recent was with AT&T.  With most all breaches, they offer a free credit monitoring service for a year or two.

Lock: costs money, must renew (annually I believe)
Freeze: no charge, stays frozen till you unfreeze whenever you want to.

I have Aura and Transunion, both have 'identity monitoring' WE ALL ARE ON THE DARK WEB if we are in real estate! 
Aura has removed me from about 150 'people finder places' of mine. It takes time to do! 
Credit freeze is recommended and everyone should do it.

Freezes with the three main bureaus.  The three secondary ones are difficult to get.

Cannot stop dark web prowlers however, they will not prevail in preying on me. As far as credit reporting? Those agencies give themselves the benefit of the doubt along with supposed creditors (real or not), making us have to prove we are not the reporting. Regarding freeze or lock & all the rest, I step aside allowing others to comment. All I know? I'm good to go

Hello, Fred. Yes, I have had my social found on the dark web, and I was given the options to have more than one verification to prove my identity when applying for credit, or to freeze my accounts. I also have Credit Wise via Capitol One. I choose to use the fraud alert instead of freezing my accounts. 

I seem to get that message about the dark web about twice a year Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate . I do have credit monitoring and of course I am always concerned but to date I've done nothing. I'm over due to sign up with LifeLock. I know I would rest easier if I had it.

Couldnt tell you the difference, dont even know how to find this dark web that you speak of.

Did you find your SS number there?  Is mine there?

Hello Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate it happened to me, and I freeze my credit with three main bureaus.

our daughter's identity was stolen.  Frankly she caught it sort of quick.  Verizon was the only charge she had to fight and not pay.  She did not go to New Jersey, much less set up cell phone service there.  Oddly enough she already had an active verizon account and number and it was fairly easy to get the collections people to stop.  She froze her credit.  But every time she buys anything (car house) and unfreezes and then refreezes a ton of new attempts occur.  Most recently one person did actually apply with a local place, fake id and when the loan was denied she got involved enough to get the girl arrested from fraud.  She called the local police, they pulled footage of the faker and what do you know the local cops recognized her and the attempted fraud and fake id were a parole violation and she went back to prison for 5 more years.

I hope this is not jinxing me but I have had no credit or credit report problems.

Which reminds me. I should check my reports. I have not done so in a while.

I have gotten a few notifications of data breach from companies which may have my personal information.
