Polls are meant to be devisive to get people to talk and debate - that is why they are created. San Diego is #1 in my heart and #8 on this list. I mean no offense, but being a Bay Area native, I don't see how Fremont beat out so many other nicer cities (to me) in The Bay Area- I've lived in 10 cities in The Bay Area and although I worked in Fremont for many years, and I do like Fremont -I'd never have chosen it over any of the other 10 I lived in...well maybe 8/10 😂 And if the Bay Area was that high ranking I'd have never moved from it to San Diego. Lists are meant to do exactly what I'm doing: responding in debate mode. LOL. We all will defend our cities of choice, rightfully so, the list means next to nothing beyond the debate and supporting your choice to live there. Congratulations on your #1.

If you're considering the cost of housing, I am shocked at anything in California or Seattle. Kansas, Arizona, Idaho, Wisconsin, South Dakota, etc. I can believe.

I just know Fremont is a great place of refuge (from San Fran) in East Bay where I've loaded up on fuel and Asian buffets many times, good memories!

 

I'm looking for a place to raise a family (pack) of dogs...so my criteria is very different.

When I was considering retirement, this subject came up as to "where is the best bang for my retirement buck so to speak". Fresh air, no pollution, no traffic, noise, no homeless, crime, congestion, medical needs, shopping/retail, car repair, taxes, insurance and a bunch more. I checked several states and saw plus & minus. California has quite a few plusses followed by clear take-aways. Let each person do their homework & conclude for themselves "the best"

Thankfully not ranked.  We still take cash around here and wallethub doesn't know we exist.  And Seattle #5?  Have they seen the news?  Raising my family where the city was taken over by thugs and the police station burned down?  I don't trust their rankings too much.
