I hire a professional photographer that is licensed to fly a drone and if the property is best served by showing off the surrounding area from the sky, it is done. Otherwise, not.

I will be getting a listing in a golf course setting that has no neighbors behind and many people like that idea, so will use drone. Last time the invoice was $370 for photos, 3-D technology tour and drone, turnaround 24 hours. It was worth the price since many people are looking online.

One MUST use discretion when using a drone. The use of drone photography is NOT one-size-fits-all.

We have a photographer that knows exactly how to make a property stand out and often times it doesn't not need drone shots in fact they would be a detriment.

I use the same guy. He charges about $200 and if you want drones, it goes up 100. He then sends the whole package ready to be downloaded, printed for brochures, signs and all the rest. He is an expert with the drone too. Showed me what it looks like before he snapped it. Hire a professional!

Very good question! A lot of our commercial zoning allows zero lot lines on the sides. So we do have to deal with this frequently.

I don't have a problem with the property itself designated so you know where theirs stop and the others begin. and the surrounding area zoomed out in the drone flyovers. People do want to see what's nearby, proximity to the highway, etc.

There have been numerous times when this has proven wise in residential. We have many areas that are not uniform. A couple of years ago we had a gorgeous acreage property that was surrounded by many homes that looked fresh out of Deliverance, and land that hadn't been cleared in a while. We needed people to know what the area looks like so they didn't waste their time coming out here from another state to see the home.

A tract home, only aerial showing the roof and layout of the yard would be necessary.

That's interesting. I recently got a call from a resident who was complaining about an agent's drone pictures of a property that included her property. She felt it was an invasion of her privacy

I only have had one listing worthy of drone photos, because it was a deep acre lot with a lot of land spread out.  But realistically, a google earth/maps satellite view, zoomed in, would have sufficed.

The rest are your typical tract homes and drones are not of any value when you can see the back wall from the street.

I take no chances, I do not use drones or hire anyone to do my pictures. I like to be in control because the liability falls on me. The best to you.

Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 drones were a rarity when I was active and I was one of the first/few to use them in our MLS. My listings always looked good from the ground or the sky.

Not necessarily... people who are looking at neighborhoods with small lots already know that... they still like seeing aerial images. I have not found it to be a deterrent. Aerial shots are included in my photographer's base price so I'm not paying any more and can always not use the photos that don't enhance the property. Also, many of our neighborhoods with small lots have beautiful amenities of pools, playgrounds, club houses, etc. Aerial shots of those are very well received by prospective buyers.

It is actually a disadvantage with properties with small lots. Better to just do angled shots of the front & back.

Most properties here are a standard 75x125.

A cookie-cutter house in a subdivision, no drone needed.

A house on acreage surrounded by forest, drone is in order.

Prices I have seen?  The cost of shooting the house, which may include a dollhouse, then another $100-$200 for the drone.

Most properties don't need drone photos in this area. The county website provides aerial photos from all angles, plus there's google aerial and street views, and others. Even when looking at large farm properties, the county website contains more information than we can get from a drone photo.

I see no reason for a drone in a neighborhood with homes so close together.   If there are views of something, or land to see, I do hire a drone shot.

Not all properties benefit from drone video. Price is usually a factor since they're pretty expensive and can take longer turn around. If the property is special or the community is special I get a drone video.

No, people will use Google Maps for the ones I don't provide drone footage on and I'm good with that! I like the drone footage for golf course, lake and equestrian properties.

We have many communities made up of both zero lots and estate-sized homes.  Drones are an extra $ 50.  I have not found them to be a deterrent, as most people who are looking at the zero lots already know how close the homes are.  It gives them a better prospective of where the home is in the community.
