I did not honestly read the full article.  The few that I did see are still biggies.  but it works both ways.  Some clients are not worth the frustration of trying to keep.

I wish I knew who posted this question,  It would help me taylor my answer.

Seems like a lame article to me but those reasons are all valid. And as others have said, some questions should have been asked before you met.

Some buyers blame the agent for problems that come up in a transaction & it's actually all on them.

There is nothing new under the sun. People expect a certain level of service and if that is discussed before putting the ink on the page there should be no problems.

We offer an agreement for our customers which says that they can fire us any time. We just want to know why.

Yet, we know what not to do in order not to get fired.

I always give my own clients a personal performance guarantee that outlines what I will do for them and invite them to fire me if I don't do what I've promised to do. In 30 years I've never been fired.

Not really, those are the basic 5 HOWEVER

2 should have been asked of the agent BEFORE hiring them at all!

And enough communication prior to deciding to go with that agent would have most likely confirmed or denied ALL the rest.

It's not hard these days to research an agent. You can get quite a feel for their personality, style and business model way before making even the initial contact.

As a broker, I don't like hearing from consumers who have 'fired their agent' as a rule. I want to know why and I want to know who.

Some, yeah I can totally understand and sorry that happened to you.

But if the consumer is simply badmouthing agents. . .

I see the ghost of Christmas future staring me down . . . LOL

I have fired clients but, have never been fired. I believe that details and excellent communication are key. Do what you say you're going to do, reduce that to writing and the process will go well.

I think every client should do an in-depth interview with a potential agent. I've gotten clients who did not do that the first time and nothing promised was delivered. I'm happy to help those clients  - the nurse in me won't allow that to happen to them!!

Interesting to note that NO reason is necessary. In todays, litigation climate, it is best to just invoke, a parting of the ways. Why dispute or argue over it?

As an agent you have the power to choose just like a seller. The agent should choose wisely before asking for the listing. Sometimes you just have to fire a seller. Nobody bats 1,000.

Clients should get to know their agent before hiring them, and I don't mean just meeting them during a listing appointment.  The best way is when the agent has been referred by a trusted friend.

The items in the article are a no brainer.

And if there is even a whiff of "unethical" or questionable methods used by that agent, take the time to find out before hiring that person. And then don't.

These are valid reasons to fire an agent, plus if you are never available for them.    I have a clause in my agency agreement, they can get out prior to going pending easily.   Never had anyone take me up on it though.   Same thing with my seller agency.
