I cannot imagine not using Google Maps.  

Yes, I use it to locate places I am unfamiliar with. Works well domestically.

Google Maps probably better than Waze for Portugal.

I don't even have the app on my phone.  I use "maps" on my iPhone which is apple maps and I use wayz for travel (domestically) and sometimes we use both at the same time just for "warnings" of road hazards, wrecks etc, because when you travel you never know which is the "popular" one for the area.  In Atlanta wayz seems to be the most popular, but not where I live.

Just make sure you have the correct phone/internet coverage so you can use your phone while overseas. 

I use it all the time domestically, works for finding restaurants and motels also.

Yes, I use it all the time, and you can label and add a description to all of your pins.

I love Google Maps.  I use it all the time.

We now use Google Maps most of the time since the search can be sent to our Tesla from our phone.  Waze is still the most reliable so we use it to double check Google Maps.

Joan Cox, I would suggest talking to your phone provider so that you can have cell/internet service, I personally wouldn't wait until getting there to get a sim card. There are tons of internet cafes in Lisbon if you ever need it. I use Google Maps all the time. Once you get to the town center of Lisbon, you wouldn't really need a map. Have fun!

I have used Google Maps and they're ok. We prefer a map book
